Whenever Uncle Pat is involved I been to say this is about writing for Tharg - NOT - creating the comic! Can someone whose work creates such passion in so many unseat one of the absolute favourites to take the Godpleton Cup? Mills has written some of the best, but for some, some of the worse thrills for Tharg in his long and illustrous career for Tharg. Pete Milligan is one of Tharg's most inventive and literate writers. Its over to you.

OR

Pete Milligan - http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=droid&page=profiles&choice=PETERM

What is all this nonsense you ask well we're finding out whose 2000ad (Meg and associated items) writing do you prefer? Voting - just add a comment here with whose work you prefer (and anything else you might wish to say to discuss their work). This vote closes some time early Friday 19th June?

When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

Pete Milligan, because of Bad Company, The Dead, Tribal Memories, Hewligan's Haircut, and Bix Barton - unique Thrills all.

And so, inevitably, my two favourite remaining authors come up against each other. I'm quite sure Pat will triumph, but I must vote Pete Milligan.

Three-quarters of Milligan's contributions count as some of the most unique and accomplished stories to ever grace the Prog.

But for all his clunky dialogue, structural ticks and overdone hobbyhorses, Pat Mills' ocean of work remains the heart of the comic. Endlessly inventive and challenging, a gift for the iconic, a writer who knows that partnering the right artist is essential for every story, and that reinvention can and should happen within a strip.

Love that Milligan, but there's only one Pat Mills. I didn't think it too many.

It's got to be Mills. Much as I love Bad Company it just can't compete against Nemesis, and the early runs of ABC Warriors and Slaine.

I'd love to go against the grain here, but it just has to be the Guvnor, dunnit? Hard to see how any challenger's going to be able to unseat him, to be honest...
