It has finally been announced that the fan film JUDGE MINTY (http://www.judgeminty.com/) is to be shown during the Thought Bubble festival.
It will be shown on the Monday first HIFI, 2 Central Road, Leeds, 7.30pm, £5 / £4 (concession), 18+, English Premiere and also during the convention proper on the Sunday Alea Cinema Room, 10.20am – 10.50am, free entry with Sunday/Weekend convention pass, 18+ entry only, photo ID may be required
I'm guessing that some of you will be setting their alarms after a night on the booze, so as not to miss this ;)
Wow that's really exciting news. Chuffed for all concerned. Alas not sure I can make the Sunday but might try to get an additional pass out for this...
Cheers, for posting this John, I was about to put something together. ;)
Will definitely be at the Sunday showing. Literally cannot wait :D
I may have to have a rethink about trying to get to Thought Bubble now. For those that are'nt attending where/ when is it likely we'll get a chance to see it?
It's going to be doing the convention circuit and after that free on the official site on the web! No fixed date for the web due to the conventions!
Cheers, Ill keep em peeled for it!
Yes, some of the bigger film festivals have rules about not being shown on the internet first, which will delay it being available there for a while.
Here's a link to the blog, where any other showing will be announced.

Judge Minty is a NOT FOR PROFIT fan film, shown with the kind permission of 2000 AD and Rebellion Judge Dredd® is a registered trademark, © Rebellion A/S®, All rights reserved. Judge Dredd is the Creation of John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra.
Nooooooooo! I only have a Saturday ticket! (because "nothing much ever happens on the Sunday of a con" - doh!
I may head over on the Monday evening instead, or I may have to wait for the web release. Grrrr!
If you've not read Steve's blog I would advise you to make a cup of tea/coffee/etc, sit down and start from the beginning, for a bloody good read to see how his project evolved from start to finish!
Here's the link from the very start 17th Dec 2008 (http://judgeminty.blogspot.co.uk/2008/12/i-guess-thats-when-you-know-its-time-to.html)
Havent checked it in a while or the FB actually :-[ Cant wait to see the finished product and hope that there'll be some accompanying featurettes or gag reels heh! Also hope you Minty guys do another 2000ad film too.
Great news for all - really looking forward to seeing it.
M.
Excellent stuff - good luck to the guys, and I look forward to seeing it online at some point in the future.
There must be a highly collectable limited edition boxset being released at some point surely? :P
Should be shown in Wagner's front room, he can supply interval snacks then 8-?
Fantastic news!
The only drawback is I can't get to Leeds, being on the other side of the world. Any chance you could premiere the film here in Sydney instead. Anywhere in wallking distance of my beer fridge house would be ideal.
Looking forward to seeing this at Hi-Ex, what do you mean that's news to you Rich? ;)
Great news- I've been hoping for confirmation of this for ages. looking forward to it.
What's the running time come to now?
Great news! Fingers crossed that Minty gets a wee showing in Glasgow at some point! It would be nice also to say hello to some fellow Weegie Dredd fans!
I'm not 100% but I think it may be around 30 minutes!
It is our duty to market the fuck out of this.
Also, because you're charging admission, I think it stands a good chance of making more profit than Dredd 3d.
I know it's mean't in jest :), but we are not charging admission, that's Leeds Film Festival.
We don't make any money on any of the showings.
The second someone says "that was great, let me buy you a pint" you are officially more profitable than Dredd 3d. And yes, I insist you put "officially more profitable than Dredd 3d" on your promo material.
It's currently running at a shade over 25 mins without credits.
Now I know what people not lucky enough to live in this damp little subcontinent we call the British Isles felt like when they realised they'd have to wait to see Dredd 3D. Damn.
Ever since I first saw word of a Judge Minty fan film, this being before I joined this forum or enjoyed meeting any of the people involved, I knew it would be enormous fun to watch and that's 25+ minutes I very much look forward to. Probably a fair few times, in fact. As far as I'm concerned, the little that's been teased with that I've seen, it's already the dig's billicks.
I look forward to reading of successes for this project upon its release. And what have I got to complain about, having to wait to see it online? Nothing! (I'm just eager to see it.)
Fantastic news.
I'm wondering if a showing at the Cube Cinema in Bristol might be possible, or the Watershed. Both small cinemas 56-60 seats or so, often used for art house sort of things.
WHY O WHY does everthing have to shown down south in england.
It's no fair !
If it makes fifty quid, will we get a sequel?
Cheers!

Only if it makes it in the US
Marvellous news! I shall look forward to the general online vid slug release.
Wahooo, my post Dredd blues have momentarily lifted!
Well by the wonders of negotiation and patience of my wife I've got a pass to attend the Premier on the Monday... well assuming I sort a ticket...
Well done that man
I for one can't wait till Thought Bubble to see this. Roll on November!
It's gonna be funny seeing all those hung over faces, at that time on a Sunday morning!
Congratulations to all involved. Until Dredd 3D came along the Minty trailer was my favourite AV thing in the world. Its now down to second but, ya know, that Garland pipsqueak could take a second kicking at the box-office once Minty gets out!*
You should contact the people behind the 2D festival and see if they would like to bring you over to Derry for their afternoon session to show / talk about making fan-based material, am sure there would be a great audience for it. Will Simposon did an animated storyboard thing this year, Minty would make a fine hour long show/talk.
All the best for Leeds!
*sorry Dredd 3D people, you still rock.
I plan on seeing this on the Monday. Will set plans in stone this Tuesday when numbers going with me are confirmed.
Damn....that's the day after i get back from holiday so wrote off any chance of going. May have to rethink things.
