Yeah I think when you talk any story you are placing yourself on wobbly ground as unless you have a smacking memory you are much more likely to forget some of the brilliant short stories than you are the longer form and epic ones.

So where is 'Buried my heart' or 'Letter from a Democrat' that's before you get to personal favs like 'The Man who knew too much', 'The Big Sleep' and '300 seconds'... your on a hiding to nothing... well even more so... when you include everything.

Or, y'know, City of the Damned

Not for any reason in particular, but after all these years, this was the Meg that made me pull the plug on the standing order in my LCS.
I think I only bothered reading the meat & potatoes Dredd.

A freestyle life of cherry picking awaits - will keep an eye on the monthly Meg threads for the return of some of the strips or creators I enjoy.

Sorry to hear that. I think the Meg has been on a really strong run in the last 12-18 months. Devlin, Megatropolis, Dreddnaughts, Deliverance... I have enjoyed them all.

So, I started this thread and have still not picked up a PS5. Not only because they are rare as rocking horse poodoo, but....there's nothing been shown that really grabs me. Yet!

This is a good point. That and the fact that games are £70 a pop!

I mean, I would play the new Ratchet & Clank. But not for £70. Game pass is much better value, frankly.

Still, my PS4 was loud and on its last legs. So now I can clear its backlog in fast-loading silence while I wait on new stuff that is a reasonable price.

Poor Colin. All that work on the best Dredds, and then Gamesradar drop this:

Nice to see some recognition of Dredd, but all that hard work ignored. What kind of hack couldn't be bothered to just lift our list?

And Return of Rico at #4? Helter Skelter at #10?

No City of the Damned?

CONTROL is free on the Epic store for the next few days.

If you've not played it, do so.

I've always avoided the Steve Martin movie because I loved the television show so much. That's the only reason. I'd give it a go now, on the basis of Dr X's passionate declarations. Added to the list...

WARNING: I have never seen the old show. I suspect the bad press for the Steve Martin movie stems from the fact that it is nothing like the show. On its own right, it's a family comedy. As a remake, it may well fail badly.

Yep, just watched Sgt Bilko

As a wise man once said, this is a cruelly maligned, criminally under-rated, comedy master-piece.

It's a likeable, family friendly comedy, with great performances and a lot of fun gags. With very early appearances by Chris Rock and Bryan Cranston. I've seen it at least a dozen times and have never understood why it gets such bad press.

My 11 year old's first time. Every time I see it, I am struck by how similar it is to Aliens. In my head, they are monumentally different films, with Alien being claustrophobic and Aliens being more gun-ho marine action. But I think that's tempered by the Aliens comics that came after.

The two films are structured in a near identical manner, and Aliens calls back to a lot in Alien: the shots of the dormant ship; the future-eerie soundtrack; the crew eating together; movement sensors and the darkness hiding advancing menace; desperate flight as the location self-destructs; the false ending and confrontation in supposed safety.

And yet, I forget all this until I watch Alien.

It's a toss up between Aliens and Sgt Bilko today. Before anyone says anything snarky, I consider Steve Martin's Bilko movie to be a cruelly maligned, criminally under-rated, comedy master-piece.

There must be somewhere a punch of middle aged men can get pissed in Scotland.

The venue - which is a bar-free sports and leisure centre - currently closed as it’s being used as a vaccination centre.  No word on whether it’ll be open by August.

Enjoy your Perth Comic Con, guys.

Nasty man.

Halfway through 2021 and still can't get my hands on a PS5 for love nor money.

Anyone know if pre-orders are available from any UK / ROI retailers?

I registered interest with ShopTo. They give registered folk an email invite to buy when they get stock. I got one about six weeks after registering. It was a bundle with an extra controller and Cyberpunk, both of which I sold on eBay

Read that there's another team at a table in the casino in the same attire.

This whole thing has a host of blink and you'll miss it things, including the UFOs at the start and the robot zombie.

Also, Geeta apparently die die on camera but then her death was cut as a consequence of the pilot being recast. It was impractical to impose CGI on the shot as needed.
