Scarlet Traces Is the guy on the first page weeping for the loss of his alcohol on the molotov cocktail? Top notch.

A bit slow getting around to reading this prog but .... Great cover!!

As someone said a prog full of episode 2's

My top three are:

1st - The Out - best story here I think, reads very busy though on my ipad, prob works better on a paper prog, some laugh out loud moments as Cyd navigates the Out

2nd - Scarlet Traces - Bad Martians!!

3rd - The Diaboliks - Enjoying this run more than previous run
Dredd and Pandora Perfect were fine in a good prog

Nobody top Kenneth

Prog 2113 marks one of the most significent addtions to Tharg's arsenal for sometime as Block Buds marks the enigma that is Kenneth Niemand's debut on Dredd. Its a superb, confident tale. Both classic and fresh as Niemand, with pitch perfect art from Jeff Anderson, introduces giant holographic AI friends to every Block in a test area, designed to help keep the mood of the citizens calmer and safer. It, of course all goes wrong but it such fun.

Its a great Dredd on anyones terms, but from a debut writer on the series... well we're coming back to that aren't we... Niemand had only done the Starlord strip in the 2017 bumper Prog ... unless you believe the conspiracy theroiests that is...

See much as its been a delight to see Niemand so quickly develop into one of the best Dredd writers for years it been as much fun trying to guess who Kenny Who really is. Some remain convinced it Grennie. Other refute the writing style make that a possiblity. If it is a known Droid an appearance on the Thrillcast by the erstwhile radio scripter under a nom-de-plume mean Tharg has gone to extreme lengths to dispell the guesses.

What fun.

Put what matters most is the Prog has gained a wonderful writer and for that Prog 2113 needs to be celebrated.

Hey Colin
Thanks for the reminder to check out the Niemand droids first thrill and first Dredd.
Great to have a quick look back, both strips well done esp for a freshly commissioned droid
I humbly request that you keep the Niemand droid well oiled please Tharg

My Top 3 for Prog 2250

Jumping on prog with extra pages/thrills and featuring several ongoing strips in a battle of the story setups.

Top 4 for me (Dredd, The Diaboliks, Scarlet Traces and The Out) were all very enjoyable and one unfortunately will have to miss out

1st - The Diaboliks - This story may work really well with this unlikely trio working together. See what happens. Love the touches of humour, "Probably best we wait in the car" lol

2nd - The Out - Great story and loooking forward to where Cyd ends up to next. Page two and three too busy for my liking with page 4 having more space and being much more easy to read. Luv all the added alien sound effects and Abnett always manages to add a surprise on the last page/panel

3rd - Scarlet Traces - Change in art style at start of strip had me checking if D'Israeli was still doing the art then it all became clear why the art style differs as you read on. Well done. Very Yellow Submarine indeed.

Easter Egg: Cheeky droid reading material in Pandora Perfect lol

My Top 3 for Prog 2249

Not the strongest prog this time with the decks getting cleared for 2250

1st - Dredd - Niemand spooky 3 parter finale with Percival's Necropolis style art

2nd - Jaegir - Hopefully this thrill is back soon. Suitably dark story and art

3rd - Skip Tracer - Skips into 3rd with the other two thrills not really putting up a fight. While not the strongest thrill I have always enjoyed Teague's work on the colours on Skip Tracer

My Top 3 for Meg 436

1st - Devlin Waugh - Everything's going a bit crazy in this ep. but the title character seems as cool as ever given his predicament. Across the storytelling and the art, top thrill this week

2nd - Angelic - Thar's some fight in the ole Angel. Dare say he's seen some scraps in his day. Lee Carter's art and colours top notch.

3rd - The Returners - Going for this thrill in 3rd place this week due to the amazing art by Assirelli and colours by De La Cruz. Not the easiest thrill to get into usually but this episode was great.

I enjoyed it overall - it was fun to see a lot of underused characters back in the fold.

Sums it up for me too Funt. Love seeing some of these characters back in action

Finally got around to reading my digital copy of the Sci Fi special after falling behind on my progs and Megs.

Thought it was a good but not great special story wise.

I like the idea of bringing back these wider Dredd-verse characters and was great to see Carroll and McHugh having a crack at at one big story in this special.

Visual highlights for me:

Koburn's version of a lawmaster in Panel 2 background
Crocodile Dundee hat in Chopper's caravan
Armitage and Devlin Waugh in the one Brit Cit strip. More Armitage pls
Googe and Teague's work in Hondo City. Love the HC lawmasters. Teague on fire in 2021.

Will have to look it up but did Googe and Teague do the Hondo City art from way back?

now off to to listen to the Thrillcast about this issues creation

My Top 3 for Prog 2248

Very strong cover, well done to the Robinson and Teague droid.

I'll have to tally the votes later in the year but surely the Teague droid is in the running for best colourist across his work for the GGC this year

1st - Dexter - Thoroughly enjoyed this action packed finale for this run. Shame to have to wait for what's up next

2nd - Dredd - A remnant from a long past Dredd battle coming back for more spooky thrills

3rd - Jaegir - Coleby and O'Grady keeping the Rogueworld grit happening in spades

Honourable mention to the Teague droid for his colours on Skip Tracer

My Top 3 for Meg 435

Same order of top 3 thrills as last month:

1st - Angelic - more Cursed earth western action. Again love the silent panels in the storytelling

2nd - Devlin Waugh - Kot and Dowling and some hellish negotiations. Not a fan of the possessed dildo but the other scenes are top notch

3rd - Dredd - interested to see what happens next, it's not troubling my top two on this list but still enjoying it

My Top 3 for Prog 2247

Enjoyed this prog with all stories having something to offer.

1st - Dredd - Creepy story with matching art by Nick Percival but not in Deadworld, cool!

2nd - 3riller - The Mask of Laverna - another creepy story that got my attention, perfect for a 3riller

3rd - Jaegir - Great to see this thrill back with Coleby and O'Grady doing their Nu Earth thing which they do so well.

Prog / Re: Prog 2246 Regened - It's a Monster

My Top 3 for Prog 2246 Regened

1st - 'Splorers - Top thrill for me by some margin. Art was spot on, story was fun with 'in' jokes for us oldies. Perfect all ages material. I preferred 'Splorers to Survival Geeks actually.

2nd - Mayflies - Gritty future war adjacent story with Coleby and Teague reminding me I should buy the Jaegir trade. Nod to Ace Trucking at the end  :)

3rd - Chopper - Was a fun story touching on Chopper's origins etc. Chopper is great for Regened IMO

Also will add that Finder and Keeper is still one of my Regened faves so more Finder and Keeper pls Tharg

My Top 3 for Prog 2245

1st - Dredd - love the page 3 art of Dredd's gun in focus and rest out of focus also, page 4 bottom left of brother witnessing the inevitable from afar, great stuff

2nd - Aquila - enjoyed this series looking forward to the next run. Well done!

3rd - Dexter - action aplenty is what I want from SD

Prog / Re: Prog 2244 - Less than Nero!
« on: 26 August, 2021, 06:13:26 AM »
My Top 3 for Prog 2244

1st - Dredd - Dredd closing in on the killer and this thrill closing in on a big ending.
Luv how its linked to old Dredd stories by Wagner, he should know after all he wrote 'em lol

2nd - Aquila - a step down from previous weeks for me, but still a top 2 thrill

3rd - Dexter - Dexter on the run from his ole mate flows way better than AI stories for me.
