Help! / Re: Which Tablet?
26 November, 2012, 02:13:38 PM
The big difference between the iPad Mini and (most of) the regular iPads is the lack of Retina display

This is less of a problem if you're not actually used to the display, and is also less of an issue on the smaller screen.  This has generally been the major criticism of the mini in most reviews.

iPad's big benefit is the size of the games / applications store - including comixology, Dark Horse, Marvel and DC apps (to be honest you only need the first two)

Kindle HD has more pixels in a similar size package so crisper images.  I've no experience these myself.

I believe PJ and Art have both played with the Kindle as a comics reader...

We now have a name for The Biscuit Dunking Man and it looks like he's been around for quite some time (in fact we've seen him before the current run I think)

Wonder what this really means for Frank and Jack, as both of them may not come out of this unchanged...

Where have we seen him before????

Didn't the previous (Japanese) Low Life kick off with Frank being rescued from the snow by a mystery Judge?

I think we could do with a quick wrap-up of what we know so far. For example...

We now know who the fatty was in Simp and I think we can also guess where Jack is bound next..

...do we? Did I miss something (quite probably...!)

Heavy spoilers:
Its mentioned in Dredd that Folger has had some heavy modification before she died.

Then in this weeks Dredd we overhear someone dumping a body in a rad pit. This is Jack dumping the fatty. Which in turn Dredd knows to be Folger
That was so great that I've just been back to to 1804 and the start- really repays it!

Spoiler lite conclusions:

We now know who the fatty was in Simp and I think we can also guess where Jack is bound next..

I am willing to place bets on Overdrive's business partner.

Anyone have any ideas who Judge "glasses" is?

Film Discussion / Re: Low budget sequel concepts:

A "Cursed Earth" is the one I think is best suited to the sequel.

Opportunity to set up the wider world (MC2 / Texas), the history (Atomic War), plus add in some crazyness, most likely the Angel family, all without stretching the premise that we have from the first movie.

That's what I get for avoiding the movie threads these last six months. Could've been me.  :(

And me. Waited to see before passing judgement rather than speculating on the Internet.

That'll learn me

Film Discussion / Re: DREDD reviews. (SPOILERS!)
08 September, 2012, 10:30:22 AM
Saw it last night and really enjoyed. It's set apart from the comics in many ways (look and feel of the city, swearing etc.) but thes things allow it to be its own thing b

That said it is more recognisably Dredd than the other one.

Our showing wasn't full and I'm not sure how many people were fans. Hopefully word of mouth will allow it to be a slow burner.

One question left hanging is what Anderson picks up about Dredd at the start before she's cut off by the CJ(?)

Cineworld Wood Green has a decent number of showings.

Hopefully not too many louts in the 9pm Friday screening.

Three different reviews in various papers all give her different names - Oswin, Clara Oswin (ie same person?) or Oswin Oswald.

Her name was given in the episode as Oswin Oswald in the episode.  The new companion has previously been announced as Clara Oswin - and some have made the leap to them bing the same person.

As this is Who that may not be the case...

Was in town with the family so couldn't get to join in with the hi jinks personally, but did pop downstairs at FP London about 2pm - saw JB wandering around and Molcher corralling artists and writers - although Dan Abnett was just making his escape as I was there.

Queue looked to be a decent size as well.

Also, who thinks this epic will be over before we hit prog 1800? I asked at Kapow and was tole that it would be over by the time the movie hit but thats a good while off yet.

By my reckoning 1800 is due to subscribers the day after the Movie is out.

Make of that what you will...
