If you're looking for the harder looking, designer sci-fi of Ridley Scott then you might think it's dated but while Brazil has its flaws, it's still more inventive than just about any Ridley Scott film - and that aspect hasn't really dated.

I can agree that is filed with invention, but I didn't enjoy it.

I don't really care about the uniform or city or stories either so long, as you say, as they work. I'd prefer an Ezquerran/Wagnerian approach, obviously, but I'm not going to moan and boycott the thing if I don't get what I want. Please Grud, just let it be good.

Hoping it's a certain platform so we can have the headline 'Netflix and Thrill'

Just had a scary thought, what if it's based on IDW's Dredd.

It's all right, that's in every contract.
That's what they call a sanity clause.
You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity clause.

Why would it be?

The comic uniform would just look daft if translated to the screen literally. Dredd would not be able to move. Why would we want to see a bunch of judges hapless ly lumbering around under the weight of their absurd knee pads and shoulder armour. Mad max does have absurdity in it, but it all works practically.

The 2012 dredd armour contains every element of the comic uniform, it's all there, but it's done with an excellent practical approach that, Imo, makes the uniform so much better. The mighty Jock worked on that, and that's good enough for me.

Obviously the uniform can't have the huge bulky shoulder pads etc he has in the comic but I still think they could do something more like the comic and still make it like a real uniform.

Again apart from the lack of a cross on the helmet, the shape of the helmet and the codpiece I thought the Stallone uniform was more along the lines of what the Dredd uniform should have been.

It was obvious they were trying to distance the 2012 film from the Stallone film but they went a bit too far imo.   I'm not totally knocking the Dredd uniform and it is a bit like the early comics but again I think it looks a bit cheap, bulky  (I really don't like the oversized neck ring) and slightly odd.

Maybe something like a cross between the Stallone and Urban uniform could work?

I would argue that it is the stallone uniform that looks very cheap and generally "a bit naff", the Dredd 2012 uniform looks like a real riot police/military/SWAT uniform, so much more relevant and convincing for a law enforcer in a future broken society.

Why would it be?

Because obviously Rebellion would want to get involved with a venture to raise tens of millions in capital to promote someone else's version of the property. Makes perfect sense.

This is why Pat Mills was right when he said creators and editors should ignore what the fans think and just do what they think is best.

I think that's a bad idea.  Obviously they can't do everything the fans want but many fans do make some good points.

For a start I'm not one to blow my own trumpet and I'm not for one minute saying nobody else has thought of it or that what I said influenced the decision but I said in the 2012 thread that maybe a new series or film should be titled Mega City One.   The best thing is to listen to themselves and the fans.

It isn't a good idea to listen to fans, at all. Ever.
