I sincerely hope peoples journeys home is less belaboured and...lets say 'eventful' than that of mine and DDDs! I know they're my home teams but I wish a pox upon both United and City, along with all their fans.

Confusion surrounding the schedule aside (wasn't even aware there was a physical copy, seemingly all gone by the time arrive at con) was mostly excellent catching up with familiar faces, Jim and Colin, delight as ever! Steve Green, my sincerest apologies for not placing a face to your name it's been a long time fellah but good to finally catch you though briefly.
Likewise Le Fink & Barrington, hope you enjoyed the rest of the convention lads and hopefully get a bit more time to natter in the future.

Can't be fussed posting my con haul as its just the two books but just having the opportunity to file through some original art is always worth the price of entry. Good con, a good day.

Anybody else found the panel's listing on the website is wildly off base?

Tried to get to both the Rogue Trooper and Draw Off panels only to find either the prior event was still ongoing or something else entirely was happening.

Very odd.

I like it! More than a bit of John McCrea to it!

En route without a hitch, return journey is looking dicey so keep an eye on live updates if you're headed back tonight.

As it currently stands, not all in physical editions and/or in print, which is what I (and I imagine plenty of other people) are clamouring for.

Seemed like we where going to get just that a decade ago when those reprints of The Great Game and Too Cool to Kill dropped, then nothing more.

Tsar Wars volumes 1 & 2 are a ball ache to get.

Omnibus editions of Sin/Dex and Dante really do feel like a truly unbelievable gap in Rebellions library, and two series I'd devour in a heartbeat.

There's still a great chunk of early to mid era Sin/Dex I've yet to read but the write up as ever invigorates and steels me for the inevitability of sheers thrills. Great stuff Colin.

Welp, that was most assuredly Moffat Who, for all the good and bad that entails.

Indeed I'm on rather of a budget at the moment so only see myself picking up a few things on impulse throughout the day.
Mostly just be please for the socials, no VIP party for myself naturally but a quite few at the pub never goes amiss.

Quote from: Hawkmumbler on 07 May, 2024, 09:22:24 AMEvery year for about 5 years now I've been promising I'll make Lawless someday. Think it was about 2 years ago I promised myself I'd make it, if I wasn't able to do so sooner, to the 10th anniversary convention.

Initially I wrote it off, as the weekend in question is when I was supposed to be doing a van run to help my sister move into her temporary summer digs in Manchester before she starts Uni in September.
Turns out that's been delayed until the following weekend, so might sneak in a cheeky Saturday only trip.
See folks there!

oh that's fantastic news. Its been too long since we caught up Zac.

Belated response but likewise Colin, been far far too long.
Tickets for both Saturday con and trains all lined up, see folks there!

SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO: STAR BLAZERS 2199

A reboot of sorts to the original Yamato movie series with elements of the assorted sequels, spin-off and reimagining that came out in the intervening 40 years sprinkled in for good measure, but very much its own beast with its own story to tell.
Like my recent run of Gundam marathons, I had intended to pace myself at two episodes a day as a 2nd daily workout tonic. Ended up binging the whole twenty-five episode run in three days.
If you've found yourself with a space opera sized whole in your heart of late and need something to plug the gap, I'm not sure I can recommend it highly enough.

Sorry guys, its that time again.

MOBILE SUIT GUNADM SEED might be the most lied about work of fiction I've ever engaged with in regards to the popular reputation (among westerners, at least) of it being bad.
It's a strange, lumbering, ungainly monster of a show with serious identity issues but beneath all its warts and defects beats a heart of pure, unfiltered Y2K sincerity. And that goes a long way for me.

I'll keep that one short but I went into a bit more detail about why the show proved significant to myself as someone on the autism spectrum, especially coming out at a time (2002) when neurodiveristy was treated as this heinous, detestable societal defect, on my letterboxd.
