I am currently watching the 2000ad adjacent film Accident Man on Pluto tv - a straight-to-dvd film based on Pat Mills and Tony Skinner"s strip of the same name. It is better than you would expect and I can't remember you covering it on Mega City Film Club so thought I would mention it here. Is Mega City Film Club continuing now Conrad has gone back to the US?

Yes, the film club continues and Conrad will be escaping from LA (and more importantly, New York) this Sunday.
I don't think anyone has picked Accident Man yet so it's yours if you're interested?

Ooh... how much does a prog cost there now? I've lost track of Pluto's inflation rate since they stopped putting the other members of the solar system's prices on the cover.

Giles Richards guides the film club to Escape from New York. We also try to spring Conrad from LA in the sequel but his home may be under the sea, and there's a dodgy cgi shark?

Another 2000AD connection: Adrienne Barbeau, Maggie in Escape from New York (and Carpenter regular) was the voice of Central in the 95 Judge Dredd film.

Cool. How did we miss that? Thanks

Great to hear some chat about 'The Phoenix' you two! For anyone not familiar with Neill Cameron here are some example of his work that I've covered on the blog - includes early small press stuff right up to the exhibition he organised in Oxford last year that was all about comics

Richard I'm sorry I should have mentioned you as a great source of information about a number of the creators as you also have a page that teases me constantly about early works from the Etherington Bros. as well.

If you aren't check out his Blog folks its fantastic.

Good to have some Phoenix focus, and Neill Cameron is the coolest. Of likely interest to nobody but because I don't think I've ever shared it, here's the tattoo design I commissioned him to do for my wedding:

You're a dark horse, Boots.

Before they became the kings of Kickstarter the Etherington Brothers had 'umble origins as small-press creators. Here's (some of) what they did before the Phoenix...
