I'm having a dilemma here folks, and hoping you can help me out...

As some of you know, i have a job i hated when i started it and it's not getting any better. In fact it's got to the point where i dread getting up in the morning. The work is crap, it takes me an age to get there, and if i didn't know better, i'd think i've been made a subject of this 'work place bullying' that's been making the news of late.

I have an interview this morning, and if i don't get this job, i reckon i could have something else (even if it's crap) reasonably quickly. I also just got payed and can keep a roof over my swede and food in the fridge for some time.

So, after all that, my question is: Is it a good idea to hand in my notice before having another job to go to? I'm obviously a bit biased here, so any advice would be a big help.

Greetings board!
Well, i very nearly have a shiny new pc (with a funky flat telly an' everythin!) However, me and my talented tekkie mate are having a bit of a mare, and i reckon someone here's bound to know whats goin on.

Whenever we switch the newly assembled beast on, a message appears on the funky lookin monitor that says 'no cable'. except there is one. i can see it from here. We've also tested the monitor, video card, leads, and RAM to no avail.
So what's wrong? whaddaya say? can anyone help me get back online without waiting til a housemate goes out?!

Hey guys,
I finally saved enough to move house!! Yaay me!
From saturday, i'm moving in with half of my lovely band. Unfortunately, i don't think my dad'll let me take the fabulous exploding computer, so i probably won't be around much for a little while --:( I'll definitely pop in before Dreddcon, so's i know what's happening but otherwise, i guess i'll see u all when i get a shiny new pc!
Anyone interested in the post of temporary board anarchist/ space cadet has until friday to apply!
So, be nice to each other. And if you can't manage that, at least make the fights interesting!

Here's a thread to counteract the recent Lucas-bashing going on. Ok, Lucas may have gone over to the dark side in recent years, but where would we be without star wars? My guess is that a lot of boarders of my age group wouldn't be boarders at all.

Hello all. Following on from the 'where u at' thread, here's one to find out who's up for a drunken evening in Portsmouth and figure out where and when to have it.
Here's some suggestions to get the ball rolling...
-Wetherspoons. Cheap booze (last time i looked!), bud on tap. Medium to high numpty factor on weekends, but generally ok.
-Edge of the Wedge/ Wedgewood rooms. Bit pricey, excellent munchies, lots of good club nights for after hours boozin, which could be blaggable given enough notice.
-The One Eyed Dog. My personal favourite! Friendly studenty/ alternative pub. Has a bad rep with the local numpties, so they tend to avoid it. Usually busy and noisy

OK arty types, what i'm after is a cartoon bomb round about 5/6 cm diameter (to cover up an old one) with a short fuse burning and either 'Bomb' or 'Acme' written on it. I'm thinking something along the lines of the Dangermouse titles or road runner cartoons. I'm also a fan of graffiti style and the new school traditional tattoo style. I've done a couple myself, but i think you guys can do better.
Anyone up for it?
Prize wise, the lucky winner will have the nice warm feeling that someone out there is walking around sporting their artwork. Also, there's a couple of decent comic shops around here, so if there's anything the winner is particularly after, i'll try my best to get it. As long as i can afford it!

OK. I may live to regret this, but here we go...
If there's to be live tunes at Dreddcon, I hereby offer to sort it out.

Firstly, i need to know who i should talk to in order to get the idea off the ground. I can knock up a business plan type thing, and yes i've put on gigs before. Not quite this big, admittedly!

At this stage it's probably also a good idea if anyone who's up for playing or DJing posts here, so i can see what we have.

Suggestions for headlining acts to hassle are also appreciated. I'd like to get a mixture of genres, so that everyones happy, but who do we all want to see?

If it's gonna happen, it'll have to start soon...

Well, it looks like i don't get to be an animator after all --:( thanks to that old chesnut, the old boys network. Dang. However, all is not lost cos i just found out an old friend of mine is working for another video games co in Brighton, so i might just give the 'network' a shot!
In the meantime, I'm off to work for an insurance co as from tuesday, where people will phone me and tell me all about their accidents. Unfortunately i'm not allowed to laugh at them.
Anyways, the point of this meandering post is to say a great big CHEERS!! to everyone that helped me out with the interview and stuff. The whole experience has got me right back into making quality art again. Hopefully i'll even have something for the fan art thread soon...

During my recent frantic job hunting attempts, i've managed to score an interview for a local games developer's art department. Go me! However, i'm a bit nervous cos i haven't animated anything since i was at uni. My old showreel is in a shocking state, being 5/6 years old and done on 3Dstudio. Unfortunately i have no decent graphics software on my pooter either, or cash to purchase with. I still have plenty of storyboards and most of my coursework.
So. What i'd like to know is: what should i be working on? what should i take to my interview? And do i have a hope in hell?

Hey guys, me again!
I seem to be suffering from the traditional travelling cash crisis! I'm currently in san diego and have about 100quid left!!! Then i got a call from o2 saying i had a phat phone bill and there gonna cut me off. To add a bit of adventure i'm having terrible trouble changing my ticket home. i'm not too worried, just don't wanna use the ol credit card if i can help it!
Still, on the bright side it's lovely here, v sunny and there are many many cool people. Also (thankfully) it's very cheap to eat and keep a roof over one's swede.
So, i guess i'll be back in bloody portsmouth soon!

Hey everybody! Hows it going? what did i miss? Hope yer all playing nicely. Anyways, just a quick update...I'm currently in Coffs Harbour and heading up to Byron Bay this arvo (ooh, get me!) where i'll hopefully be spending about a week or so drinking beer, visiting the peculiar little legal hash town of Nimbin and lying around on beaches. Yaay!

Since moving on from Melbourne, i spent nearly a week of solid debauchery in lovely Sydney, chilling on Coogee beach and mucking about with a boogie board by day and drinking til 4am. Ouch! I also acquired some stupid english sunburn. Ouch x2! Couldn't do the bridge climb this time unfortunately due to it being shockingly pricey and having a bit of a waiting list, but i'm DEFINITELY gonna be coming back at some point, so there's one for next time!
From Sydney i did an overnight stop in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, where much walking and photography was the order of the day. It's verrrry pretty up there, once i get me photos done, i'll try an post some. Since Katoomba i've been working me way up the coast, stopping in Newcastle and Coffs Harbour, which brings us up to date. I've only got about a week an a bit left in oz, then it's on to middle earth, erm, New Zealand!

 Well, it's out and i got one. And suprisingly good it is too. Yuna's angels indeed! I love it, most of the grown men here will probably hate it! The costume changes and platform bits are there, as we feared on the 'advent chidren' thread, but they work quite well. Platformy bits are very basic and won't piss you off (so far), costumes are part of the development system and work the way that jobs do in FF11. A bit of a handful (arf!) to start with, but it does keep the battles flowing nicely. Not much to report yet so's i don't accidentally spoil anything, but just thought you'd like to know! Anyone else played?

Hey all! I notice Hewligan's Haircut has been released as a GN. As you may have guessed, I'm a bit of a Jamie Hewlett collector but I 've never read this story and i've heard loads of Very Bad Things about it. So what i'd like to know is: Is it really that bad? Why? And should i get one?
