Film & TV / Re: DUNE

I don't know anything about Dune, haven't read the books, but that just reminds me of those John Carter/Jonah Hex type films that came out a while ago - something to watch on Netflix while you're doing your ironing that you don't really remember next day when someone asks what you've watched recently.

Prog / Re: Prog 2198 - Lock & Lode!

Almost a perfect prog for me, with only Dire Bollix and a lack of a letters page being the not-quite-there elements.
The Out - wow! This has pretty much turned me from getting the prog for history's sake, with all the Skip Tracer and The Order inanity that turns me right off, to being genuinely excited and - dare I say it - reverently looking forward to the moment I can get the latest prog. More of this, Tharg. Finally, you've got a happy squaxx again over here.

Get well soon Dan!
And if you need something to occupy yourself while you're lying around doing nowt, you might as well scribble out another book of Kingdom. Just to keep busy, like.

Prog / Re: Prog 2192 - Bearing Down!

The prog's lost me a bit right now, a re-read is most certainly on the cards.
I genuinely don't like the Order - it lost me a while back and I've felt no urge to get myself back up to speed, no matter how great the art.
Dredd is just going through the motions for me, and Full Tilt Boogie & Diabolicks aren't lighting my fire.
But The Out is unexpectedly WONDERFUL. First thing I turn to after Dredd. Thank you Tharg. It's keeping me on board.
All in all, I miss the days when I didn't have to remind myself of what's gone before, every week.
But I think that's because I'm just an old cantankerous git.
I have a dedicated 2000ad spot in my little music pub, that I've managed to get open again, and the punters are still lapping up the weekly (and the classic!) progs in the rack.
So all is good.

Prog / Re: Prog 2189 - Hunger Strike

A good prog for me, though not a great one.

Dredd is fine, but feels as though it's on rails. I'm not really feeling the sense of threat, almost as though once Death is defeated (wonder who that could be), it'll all be back to normal.

Full Tilt Boogie is warming up nicely, as is Diaboliks.

The Order continues to annoy me, simply due to its presence, taking up room in the Prog that could be used for a strip that isn't beautifully drawn gubbins. I genuinely hate it. Who's the enemy? Is it still worms? Why do The Order have worms? WHO CARES.

The Out I really like. I wonder if it's related to Grey Area? Or if the oncoming baddies are
something to do with what's happening in Dredd, Trifecta style.
And I thought Droid Life was being utterly filthy, till I got the magnifying glass out. There's a reason Herr Flick never got a comic book spin off, you know....! Top gag.

All in all, a nice prog. Ace cover.

These naysayers haven't read the Summer special yet, I assume?
Seems work's proceeding not only on Mega City one, but other properties too....

Prog / Re: prog 2182: So long and geek out

Forgive me, Mighty One. Last night was spent drinking heavily with a fellow ne'er do well.
I just wasn't that keen on this week's prog.
It has been a MASSIVE beacon of hope in these testing times for me. I genuinely look forward to it every Tuesday around midnight. Thanks for continuing to produce it.
I have been having a Back Prog Marathon, and spent some time yesterday reading through the Space Girls/BLAIR1 era.
I would like the jury to consider this before condemning me, m'lud.

I rarely post on the prog review thread, unless it's exceptionally great, or....
Dredd aside, this for me was a shockingly bad prog.
Can someone tell me what's going on in The Order? I've bought the prog for 40 years! What the hell IS this??
Hershey: what was the point? Was it worth reversing her brilliant death scene? Is it worth getting rid of a forty something reader, Tharg? I'm genuinely getting fed up with this nonsense. Where's the innovation? The FUN?
Survival Geeks: I have NO idea which characters are the ones we've followed all this time. What happened? Who won? Why the fu*k should I care?

Up the game, Tharg. This was shit. Disappointing shit. I'm genuinely upset. I LOVE 2000AD, but this is worse than the 90's nadir....

I loved every episode. Just seemed to be Strontium Dog in Star Wars universe as far as I could tell.

Ring road. Another Moore/Redondo one, I believe.
