Fantastic Four

Camp tosh, but quite enjoyable. Some bad things about the movie; Johnny Storm is so cool he doesn't follow anyone's rules but his own, and he doesn't even follow those! He's just TOO extreme, etcetera, etcetera - this gets annoying before the character even graces the screen. Doctor Doom doesn't talk about himself in the third person - unforgiveable! There's a scene shoehorned in where Jess Alba strips to her smalls FOR NO DISCERNIBLE REASON (although I realise for some, this isn't a negative). It's corny, full of rubbish lines and unfunny comedy asides, but still worth a watch if only to remind yourself that superhero movies don't have to be elaborate doom and gloom fests - they can be fun too, which is the point, surely?

Oh, and Stan The Man has a cameo as postman Willie Lumpkin, who Marvel-heads will know of as a background character from many a Marvel book over the years.

Now see, as I only ever enjoyed very early Fantastic Four (in digest format, with Micronauts! Cool!), and have read nothing but bad things about the movie, I was going to pass on the whole affair. Now I read the Bear saying passably nice things about it and I'm all confused. The Prof is NEVER nice about ANYTHING. Why did he have to start now? Have the keepers finally upped the dosage?
