with the xmas season upon us.
micro soft officailly led the charge today with the console price drop.

it is now 105 sterling or $280sing  for console and one controller. basic set up. they just announced it with a massive add campaign here in singapore.
list price in dixons is 130 quid i think. in the uk.

so watch game cube and PS2 follow suit any day now.
not got a game console? time to consider it i would say.
plenty of game discounts coming up on the adds as well.
so dont purchase today.
hold on till the 1st of december.

they are bundling lots of offers with it.steering wheels and games, and free XBOX live when it goes online here.

our official RRP for the XBox is A$299 for console and controller or Beast pack with 2 controllers, dvd remote, midtown madness 3, brute force and 2 month sub to xbox live only A$369, yep definatly a price war brewing. Sony arrogant pricks still have a RRPA$330 but seem to have a deal with KMart to supply consoles cheaper as they seem to be selling em for A$279 a price small retailers(such as me)couldn't hope to match we actually pay more for the consoles than they're selling em for......Fark'n big bussiness makes it hard for us to do anything big at christmas..

PS2 and Gamecube prices won't drop again in the UK this side of Christmas. PS2 already dropped ?30 a couple of months ago and at ?79.99, the only way GameCube could go is if they give it away free with Mcdonalds! (GBA is actuallt more expensive than GameCube).

The Enigmatic Dr X

The XBOX cut is only in Asia, as Microsoft wants to increase its market penetration there; it hasn't really made an impact.

The fact  this is more down to a lack of appealing games for the market it beyond them, it seems.

Krestal:  Can understand your frustration at the big buisnesses.  used to have a friend who ran a comic/rpg/collectables shop who eventually had to mave it to St Andrews because he couldn't compete with the big shops that were opening up and so he moved to where his main customers (the student market) were

Its a very sad state of affairs all round.

only one big retailer in our city but the farkers are killing us on the game consoles, we try to give good customer service to off set the price diff but no one really cares they just get shit as cheap as possible, still we do deal in specialist hobby and anime' stuff that they dont do which keeps us afloat. It's just so frustrating being a small retailer...
