Games / Re: Last game played...
16 May, 2020, 11:12:54 AM
Haven't been too active in the world of video games for some time.  Aiming to change that...:)

I thought I'd track down all the major open-world Assassin's Creed titles - and play them from beginning to end.  The only AC game I've actually played in the past is AC2 (which from memory, I rather enjoyed).

Yes, I'm only too aware that the AC games have something of a 'marmite' connotation attached to them. :)

I was able to purchase all nine (!) major AC games second-hand for the princely amount of 69 pounds ($131 Australian dollars).  Interestingly, the only title that I can't play on my PS4 is the original AC game - which I've had to resort to playing on my PC.  Looking forward to getting AC1 out of the way so I can then migrate to the comfort of the lounge to use my PS4 for the remainder.

Where possible, I'll also try to play some of the downloadable missions (some of which I might be able to get for free using activation codes, etc.).

I'm sure there will be some frustration ahead - but the journey should get more enjoyable as I progress.  Many of the titles should have had their wrinkles ironed out by now (I'm looking at you, Unity!).

The PC version of AC1 is apparently a 'Director's Cut', with some extra missions, etc.  That cost me 2 pounds 64 pence.

Watch this space!  No spoilers please. :)

The irony is that I'm still working full-time, with no isolation at home - and I have a seven-month old daughter who's suddenly learnt that she can crawl...so God only knows when I'm going to find the time to play these games!

Bit of a necro-post...:)

Short story, I shouldn't have worried myself so much.  Fatherhood is working out better than expected. :)

Here she is...Danielle at 5 months old.

I tried for 'Cassandra', but the other half wasn't having it.

It's been suggested that the actor Sebastian Stan has
more than a passing resemblance to Mark Hamill (circa ESB/ROTJ).  I wonder what the chances might be of a post-ROTJ Luke making a cameo in the series? :)

Wishful thinking perhaps!

It's funny, I wasn't taken at all with the soundtrack when I watched episodes one and two - but after watching episode three, it's generated one of those ear-worm things.  I can't get it out of my head now. :)

I'm based in Australia - and it's nice that Disney + launched here early.  It's not often we in the southern hemisphere get something before the rest of the world.

Love the end credits of each episode - the images would make a great coffee-table book.  Reminds me a lot of what McQuarrie produced for the original trilogy.

Ginger Baker.  Always loved his drumming.

I'm five episodes in.  Really amazed at what they've pulled off. It could easily have been a CGI fest - but they've gone easy on that aspect.

Funnily enough, I only watched the original movie yesterday for the first time.  It's a seamless progression from the movie to the series.

Just another quick 'thank you' to Rebellion for the 50% off deal.  Living in Australia, postage can be rather expensive (no fault of Rebellion) - so it's much appreciated to pick up a discount on the items themselves.

Just ordered two novels (Judge Anderson: Fly Trap and Judges: Golgotha) and Phase 2 of the Zenith hardbacks. :)

I'm also based in Oz.  It's very difficult to get these types of items.

However, somehow...my PR Mark 1 Lawgiver got through customs back in the day. :)

I had a Stormtrooper E-11 resin kit blaster seized because it was based on a Sterling SMG.  They also weren't keen on a Han Solo DL-44 resin kit blaster that I ordered - because it was based on a real-life Mauser.  I finally got my hands on them by applying for a special permit.

Wait until you get to Season 2, TordelBack - your notebook is going to get a real working out. :)

Found myself hitting the PAUSE button on the remote more than once trying to figure out who-was-who in my mind! :)

I've just finished watching both seasons of 'Dark' on NETFLIX - a German 'time-travel shenanigans' series.

I've had a quick look through previous pages of this thread, but couldn't find any reviews - there's probably one in there somewhere?

I avoided the dodgy English dub - and watched it with the original German audio and English sub-titles.

It's not perfect - but it damn near held my interest for all 18 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2.  Apparently there's a third season in the works.

It's beautifully filmed as well.  Having lived my entire life in Australia/NZ, I always enjoy seeing euro-fashion/design, etc.  It also has a cracking sound-track.

Hopefully it will see a release on bluray at some point (not sure if that happens with NETFLIX releases or not).

Apologies - it's taken me a while to get around to replying...

Thanks Leigh - ah, the elusive original release of 'Saves The World'.  I'm after one of those.  Let me know if you ever want to sell. :)

And no - I haven't seen a physical copy of 'Horror City' either.  Can't find any images of the box-art on google.

"I didn't consider the three Dan Dare games because they're obviously (original) Eagle Dan, not Tooth Dare."

Yeah, I agree - but they're kinda 2000AD related, so I've included them in my collection. :)

Glad you like your boxed games, Malcolm. :)

I've posted these images elsewhere, but here's my collection of 2000AD-related titles...the majority of which are for the C64 (which I still power up every now and then).  The only exception being Strontium Dog 'The Killing', which was exclusively for the Spectrum.

All are 8-bit...with the exception of the AMIGA Rogue Trooper title - which is 16-bit (but still lovingly retro!).  It's the only title in my collection that is on disk.

Now for some 'home-made' oddities...the 'Judge Death' title is in fact the game 'Horror City' that was released in 1989.  You can learn more here...

http://retrovania-vgjunk.blogspot.com/2013/07/horror-city-c64.html

An advertisement for the 'Judge Death' game was published - which I used for the cassette cover.  Inside the cassette box is a USB stick with the game/emulator. :)

The other three games were all created/released by Malcolm Kirk - a member of this very forum.

The hardest part - tracking down vintage cassette boxes!  You can't even find them in second-hand stores any more! :)

Wow - I had the same understanding that this book had never been physically printed.  I've collected all of the 2000AD novels - and this was the only one outstanding.

I've now got an issue on the way as well!

Thanks for the heads-up! :)
