As I mentioned in the Prog 1549 thread I felt that the placement of the last couple of panels should be swapped for the sake of the story.
Obviously this is me being VERY petty as the strip is fantastic but there was just something about ending the page on the robot lawyer instead of Dredd that didn't read right to me. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.
I've crudely amended it using paint.
Tell me if you agree or disagree, obviously only if you've read it and don't mind spoilers.
Oh yes and if anyone from Rebellion is bugged by this please take this post down. I won't be offended.

Why not just put the rest of the strip up ;D
Actually, I quite like your re-ordering these panels. I've just finished reading the strip for the second time - not but five minutes ago - and I can honestly say this works better. Not to slag "original", though - what a fantastic start to this epic.
Yeah, it seems more fitting to have Dredd riding off.
I thought it was just me so thats good. Like I say the real story is fantastic and I haven't been this excited for tooth in months. However to my eyes I think my "remix" makes the page look a bit more balanced with the brown at the top and the bottom.
I tell you what I could get used to the wonders of a cheap scanner and paint.
You could also have the final word ballon cross the panel boarder into the final panel making even more obivously a commentary on Dredd's departure?
That obviously would have meant me being any good at computer jiggery pokery which I'm not unfortunately.
And as if to prove the point that I'm no good at computer jiggery pockery here's my attempt at doing what I said...

WAHOOO managed to implant an image - which I failed so miserably to do over in the competition thread.
The problem as you can see with what I've need is the second to last panel needs a bit of fiddling as well otherwise it looked a bit odd so I resized the lawyer to fill the panel a little better.
Does this work any better than Richard's (ability to adjust properly aside) ... to be honest I'm not all all sure it does
And suddenly John Wagner calls it quits.
Excellent and with him out of the way lets crack on and get Dredd's brain transferred into a cloned body and thats that problem out of the way!*
(*Obviously joking)
p.s. I can't see the image.
Bugger - I hope others can and its not me failign to implant an image after all????
Anyway just in case linkie

Good Lord, that's Beautiful!!!
Here I was marvelling at this week's Dredd, thinking it absolutely PERFECT, and Wagner utterly bulletproof. Then you guys come along and...
Actually improve it! Sheee-it, who woulda thought it. Richard, you're a genius. And COlin, the finishing touch is just sublime.
You guys! ;D
Nice work Colin!
(If you right click the image on your picasaweb page, and go to properties that'll give you its real location)

Moi? Cheeky??? :-*
I think it worked perfectly well the way it was done in the comic. Yes, Richard's change makes it a bit more obvious, but IMO it's not needed.

Couldn't agree more Trouty. The way it was published means the story finished with an ironic joke. That seems much more fitting than fiddling about with the panels. As much as I admire the cheek there's something very wrong about readers correcting a Wgner script...

With that in mind I wonder if anyone is interested in the following. Since gaining new improved web fu I was considering scanning in pages from a MARK MILLAR Dredd such as the Frankenstein Division which contains some great drawing by Ezquerra but the words always felt a bit wrong. I'm proposing on removing the dialogue and then seeing if everyone wants to re-letter the balloons.
You could make it funny or serious.
Its just a bit of fun but it may be mildly diverting. They used to do it all the time in old Marvel UK comics.
But surely to end with Dredd riding into the sunset is a huge cliche? A last cut to the brilliantly defective lawyer-bot punctures that obvious 'moment' - genius!
In short, don't presume to second-guess your betters, bub!
bub?
Well, it is a 'big' moment, so you can't blame Mr. Field for being thoughtful about it.
Hey you're the best at what you do so you can't help it!
Have you read the Jason Aaron Wolverine which runs through a tpical week in the life of Wolvie. Its great and kind of makes sense of all the different costumes and teams he's on.
Nope, but it just got added to my list! I'm currently waiting for a workmate to lend me 'Old Man Logan' as soon as he's got the last parts.
You'll have a wait to go for that.
The story is called a Mile in my Moccasins and its in Wolverine 73 & 74.
Art by Adam Kubert.
There's also some nice art from Tommy Lee Edwards on a different story.
To have Dredd ride off reeks of end of story not beginning of and epic. Wagner knew what he was doing.

Been trying to scan the first page of the Frankenstein Division but it doesn't seem to be coming out at the same size.
I haven't done anything differently than I did the scan yesterday and that came out the right size.
Any ideas?
Hi Banners
Scanned it at 450 dpi and its still tiny. Like I say I scanned one last night and its perfect. Bizarre
Just rescanned the original page and its just as small as the other. I'm off to bed.
You might want to make sure it's okay with Rebellion to post a full story - even in edited form - on their forum.
I approve in theory of such an undertaking, though - the 4th Letter edit of the nonsensical Ultimatum miniseries had the odd distinction of actually making more sense than the strip it parodied, even if the edit wasn't terribly clever or funny. The odd good joke, though.

Nooooo....that imples that the whole creative process of 2k is working perfectly. Never forget that fans know better!

This thread is the definition of fan geeky. Someone should screencapture it and email it to John Wagner. ;)
Great work chaps, but I'm afraid I prefer the original - less showy, more confident.
I don't think the "philosophical sigh" part of that quite works in relation to Dredd neither.
