This is a raffle to raise money for MIND in memory of our friend Dave Evans. Please read the rules carefully and make sure to email me your donation receipt.

The first prize is the A3 sized Judge Dredd sketch by Henry Flint in the style of early Mike McMahon. It was originally done for a charity auction at a Bristol convention some years ago. I sent it back to Henry to get it signed and he very kindly donated some other A4 sketches so we have some more prizes.

Second prize is the head sketch of Dredd and sketches of Borisenko and Nadia from Day of Chaos.

Third prize is the Zombo head sketch plus another Borisenko sketch.

Fourth prize is the Tharg Dredd Mouth sketch plus what appears to be a prelim piece from the Titan or Enceladus story.

And fifth prize is a little signed book of Henry's abstract designs and a booklet of character design  sketches for another project that I am unfamiliar with.

Tickets are £2 each, no gift aid because you are getting a virtual raffle ticket, and it's really important that you give me some way of contacting you if you win. Please email your donation receipt to MCBCpodcast@gmail.com
If I don't get your details you are just donating and not entering the draw.

Entries close at midnight on Saturday 24th July and the draw will take place on Sunday 25th and the video of the draw will be posted on the podcast Facebook page and 2000AD forums.

All the pictures are on the justgiving site.
Thank you for your donations and good luck.

Garry Hill fresh from the successes of running a vaccination hub has convened a meet up of the 2000AD eastern contingent at the Grain and Hop store pub in the middle of Cambridge.
1:30pm on Saturday July 17th for a drink and a chat. Last time there was an art droid doing sketches for pints, this time there may even be a well-known podcaster in attendance (not me, although I hope to be there as well).

Come along if you feel comfortable and safe doing do. This is open to any comics fan, all are welcome and there is absolutely no gate keeping, you will not be quizzed on your 2000AD knowledge (just as well in my case). It's a fun chat about comics and life with some likeminded fans.

And for the Southers Commando Forces Burdis has organised their next meetup for Saturday August 14th which is free comic book day at the Crown and Anchor pub near Covent Garden from 12 o clock onwards. Same rules apply i.e. none, and it's great fun meeting up for a pint with your prog rocking brothers and sisters.

Website and Forum / Wraparound covers on digital issues
04 December, 2019, 01:11:07 PM
A while back we were getting wraparound cover images as part of the digital file on the iPad app.
At some point this seems to have been forgotten or overlooked so that Progs like 2060 don't include a wraparound image of Stewart Moore's fabulous cover.

Any chance this helpful practice can be reinstated?

One week on and still got that Thought Bubble buzz. For anyone who doesn't know this is the UK comics convention to get to if you can.

And part of my buzz is from the amazing generosity of people who donated items to the cause for cancer research UK. Special thanks to Rob Stewart, Si Spurrier, Ian Edginton, D'Israeli, Bolt-01, Damian, and Large48 who all gave items.

So here we go, there is quite a lot to get through. All are 99p starts with the usual free P&P so every penny you pay goes straight to fund cancer research.

Phew! What a lot we've got. And there's more to come. I'll be listing another 15 or so items soon including, would you believe it, an A3 Joe Pineapples sketch by none other than Simon Bisley himself. Watch this space.

I'm staggering the end dates of some of these auctions to give me time to get to the post office and keep up my day job. As ever if you win an early auction and have your eyes on a later one then message me and I'll post together if possible.

And I still have some items kept back for the Christmas raffle so with these auctions, and the Buttonman ones, and the raffle we might push the running total close to the £10k mark!

Time for the traditional lie down with a damp prog on my forehead and a reviving sniff of the jockstrap that Pete Wells donated but I'm keeping for myself for personal reasons.

Cheers all.

Not just content with the enormous achievement that is the Letters to Tharg Beast the forum's very own Buttonman, Stephen Watson, has donated some trade paperbacks to help raise money for cancer research UK.

First up the rare and sought after Stainless Steel Rat trade paperback, and a letter from the Mighty One himself.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233384248012

And then the Invasion 1984! trade that Stephen and I discussed on a recent episode of the podcast.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233384251132

Both are 99p starts, 100% for Cancer research UK and Stephen is generously throwing in free postage as well. You know what to do.

And stay tuned for some more books from the master of the Beast. Thank you, Stephen.

Superfan Garry Hill is organising the first meet up of the 2000AD Eastern contingent as follows:

"Hi folks taking the initiative from John Burdis and the 2000AD Southern Contingent I've set up a fan group for us in the Eastern region. Very originally, it's called the 2000AD Eastern Contingent. 😉

Making the beautiful city of Cambridge our base, the first meet up is planned for Saturday 5th October at 2pm meeting at The Grain and Hop Store pub in Regent Street.

So, leave the keyboards, tablets and phones behind and meet up with some of your fellow 2000AD fans in person to drink, eat and talk about the galaxy's greatest and anything else you want. We may even have a mystery 2000AD guest in attendance too!"

Garry will be there, I'll be there, there may even be an inky fingered droid there. If you're anywhere near Cambridge come a long for a few scoops*, a few laughs, and some 2000AD chat. First pint is on me!

*My Irish heritage coming out. Alcoholic beverages.
