I can't do links on my phone,  but an eBay search for "Starlord No.  11." should reveal one for sale (buy it now,  not auction) for £5.70 including postage.

Any sign of #2?
It was listed online as available from this Wednesday just gone, but as yet hasn't popped up in any shops (at least,  according to my ebay searches).

Other Reviews / IDW Dredd Classics: The Dark Judges
21 January, 2015, 06:41:19 PM
#1 is out today,  I understand. And I Imagine big JB will be along any second to review it in his own inimitable Big Beary "John of Finland Margate" style,  but until then some questions to ease my mind:

How many issues are scheduled?
How's the colouring?
Are they still printing off the original layouts without re-editing them to fit the page?
What's in #1?
And,  has a hardback been listed?

The Apocalypse War singles were a washout for me,  but the hardback collection is bloody gorgeous and has pride of place on a shelf in my lounge.

Hastings whs has received 25 copies,  and had sold ten or so when I was in there at midday.  In fact I was in a queue in which I and two others were clutching the prog and they were armed with the Mega Collection  as well.  I'd not had that experience since the early eighties!

Interestingly,  I was told they got 30 "build a Millennium Falcon' #1s but now only get seven.  The "Do Some Knitting" partwork,  out this week,  swamped the shop with 250 copies!

My local newsie had two Mega Collections out on sale.

I got my Howard from A Place In Space too.  In fact,  I try to buy most of my comics from them (and East Coast Comics).  Never had a problem with either shop,  packaging is sensible, communication is excellent.
I do sometimes find that aPiS is slightly slower than Excited- comics ordered Wednesday afternoon can arrive as late as the following Tuesday, whereas with ecc I tend to get them Saturday latest. But I'm very aware this may be due to the eldritch machinations of the postal service.

My new America arrived,  but I've yet to take it out of the shrink wrap.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?
10 January, 2015, 11:46:25 AM
Bit of a backlog here,at the SmallBlueHouse,  as I keep getting ridiculous late shifts followed by earlies,  and so have been too knackered to do much reading. Nevertheless the postman keeps bringing me comics as if someone is ordering them when I'm asleep.

Current pile consists of,  in no particular order:

Hellblazer #146-150
Chas: The Knowledge trade paperback
Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham #2-3
Conan: Ravagers out of Time
Conan: The Horn of Azoth
Aquaman #39-56
2000AD progs 2015, 1912
Anderson #4
Deja Thoris and the White Apes of Mars trade paperback
Red Sonja: Atlantis Rises tp
Red Sonja vs Thulsa Doom tp
Batman: Haunted Gotham #1-4 reread
Saint of Killers #1-4 reread
Spider-Man's Tangled Web #14-22
Superior Foes of Spider-Man #12-17
Howard The Duck Marvel Graphic Novel Collection 80
Man Thing #7-8 (in the post)

Plus the following novels:

Proxima by Stephen Baxter
Spider-Man: Carnage in New York by David Michelinie & Dean Wesley Smith

and:

The Insider's Guide to Creating Comics and Graphic Novels by Andy Schmidt

Oh and the latest DWM.

Film & TV / Re: Last movie watched...

Haha!  No,  while I like DaD an awful lot,  I appreciate that it's perhaps for reasons others may not share. And besides, Skyfall long ago usurped it as my fave Bond film.

And,  like the Spines thread,  new additions to this one set off my alarm,  raising me erect and stimulated!

Some recent watches,  briefly:

Deliver Us From Evil
Eric Bana as a Noo York cop facing up against demonic possession. Diverting, if overly religious in the sense that it felt like a Catholic Conversion Exercise. Sadly nowhere near as good as the fantastic trailer promised.

Mr Jones
Found Footage horror,  beautifully shot with an at times beautiful aesthetic, in which a couple discover their country retreat is right next door to elusive and mysterious artist "Mr Jones", maker of creepy scarecrow art,  who might just be in the middle of a Lovecraftian invasion from Something Old and Evil.  Very good indeed.

Feast 3: The Happy End
Shit.

Poseidon Rex
Underwater dinosaur kills drug runners in various computer generated ways, after being released from a volcano.  Entertaining Bollocks.

Little Shop of Horrors
Glorious eighties musical that I didn't overly like on original release, but which this time absolutely blew me away.

Man of Steel
Enjoyable Superman fluff,  destruction porn and generally well-produced superhero theatrics.  Enjoyed it far more than the recent Batmovies,  and thought the bloke playing Supes nailed it.  Would happily watch another one.

Read this last night, after having been waiting for what seems like the whole of my life. I can't remember an idea that has so immediately clicked for me, causing a lightning strike of "ah-ha! Obviously!" in recent years. Every page resounded with the foley of the TV and film versions,  every line of dialogue made me smile. The art is great, the mood is perfect.
Okay,  so #1 seems gratuitously written for trade collection, featuring a disproportionate amount of Trek in comparison to PotA, setting it up as very much a TV episode of Roddenberry's show, in which the Apes are the guest stars- but that doesn't matter a jot when the next four issues promise so much.
I'm in for the duration, and the collected volume will be a perennial present for friends from here on in.

Five bananas!

What's happened to #4? Is it late,  or am I just so keen to see it that time perception has sloooowed?
