Well spotted that man - have changed it and made the date more UK friendly... ;)

I want a smite button!! Aces!!!

Anyway, I know you are still fiddling with the look so I'll reserve comment. I will say that it is running as fast as a greased weasel here which is a massive improvement.

Apologies for complaining yesterday.

what about the most recent posts feature that had all the most recent posts in descending order like what it used to be like before it all changed ?

That was what i meant by "Active Topics".

Im finding that the active topics button isint working either,
its giving older threads rather than treads from today.

the 'Active Topics' is better now that it doesn't show the whole post, but a couple of features still missing compared to the old version, hopefully it's possible to restore them:

1. It now only seems to show topics with unread posts - so isn't any different to the 'unread post' function. It used to show ALL recent posts, with unread ones marked as NEW
2. There used to be a star to show which threads you'd contribituted to. Not a big deal, but it's always more interesting to revisit a discussion you've particpated in and it's sometimes hard to remember.

Does a smite button actually smite the offending person? How cool would that be?

And the website clock has NEVER been accurate!

Oh, and my favourite smiley - the rolling eyes - no longer rolls. Now these are the  IMPORTANT issues!

New look is good but I don't get what was wrong with the old one. Ah well, the winds of change and all that...

Just need a decent banner and a smite button. I wants me a smite button...

COMMANDO FORCES

Surely it should be a Rigellian Hotshot button!

It is worth pointing out this is not about a new look, it was about making the forum more secure. Starting at the weekend we were getting hammered by spam, most of it Russian pharma spam but the occasional bit of vile porn spam. It was getting difficult to keep up and was disrupting the forum. So as well as installing something to stop spammers (which has blocked 531 new spammer accounts since being installed) the forum software was updated to the latest version to help close any security loopholes. It happens that this is the new 2.0 version of the which is more secure but is a big step up from the previous version so all the styling and modifications have gone, this is one of the default styles. w3bz has spent the last day or so making sure the forum was functioning OK. Now that it seems to be OK I assume some tinkering with the look of the forum will take place at some point, when the web droids schedule allows. You'll probably be able to spot this has started when everything starts looking a bit odd ;)
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

547 now and rising. This when the site that checks the accounts has been down for quite a while.

Worth noting that this won't stop them all, but it should make things more manageable, as the more blatant spammers will tend to be blocked.

How much of this spam is automated as aversed to manual ?

From what i understand besides having anti-spam software there could also be a question that has to be answered manually upon registration that would block out spambots.

Having said that though i dont know what the registration protocol is now and this might be covered already for all i know.

Memebership/registration by email isnt very popular with spambots  either but that might mean more work for the admin possibly.

There is indeed a question in there now and I'm going to update the captcha system this forum comes with as standard, but as Emps said it's looking a lot better so far (fingers crossed) ;)
