Messages - Barrington Boots

I was also going to suggest Pettifer. She's a great character and definitely a strong female character, just not in the 'lady with a big gun' way.
However if I'm voting on my favourite then I'm going for (in no particular order):

-  Jenna Makarov
-  Atalia Jaegir
-  Judge McGruder

Tricky one to choose and I nearly went for Cinnabar but Cradlegrave is a masterwork of horror.

The Returners for me please.

Wolfie Smith for me too. Purgatory does look great, but script-and-plot wise it is seriously terrible. Absolutely abysmal on every level.

Nothing bugs me more than slow, wistful acoustic versions of classic rock tracks, usually accompanying supermarket Christmas ads

Definitely this. Take a classic song, slow it down and get someone to sing it in a dreamy, little girl voice, divesting it of any power, meaning or good quality it previously had. It enrages me.

Like Sharky and Pops* I don't really watch TV but even I know about that Daisy one and how awful it is. I really hate toothpaste adverts where a model licks their own teeth - this just grosses me out and nobody really does it in real life.

* This sounds like a detective combo

Very quiet on the review thread this week.
Have to say I'm not a fan of this cover. It's ugly, which I guess is kind of the intent? but it's not that dynamic either.

Dredd – Very much enjoying this. It's all action but I definitely think we can't take anything that happens in this tale as 'canon' as we're getting a very specific version of events. I'm not sure what the Citadel will turn out to be or what awful act Dredd will do that is going to overshadow him nuking the Sovs, but I'm onboard for it. Dan Cornwell's art is just fantastic.

Proteus Vex – Very action packed episode. This story continues to be excellent.

The Order – Not a bad episode but my investment in this strip is fading and I think this has been a weaker run than usual although I can't put my figure on why. That said it's a big cliffhanger ending to the run - again - and it's been a non-stop action ride.

Kingmaker – I thought we'd be seeing a confrontation between the Duke and Crixus this week, so a bit surprised by what happened. I guess the story has very much changed tack from it's earlier episodes and we'll be seeing a new status quo: I'm really not sure what is up next, so reserving judgement. Stunning art as ever.

Brink – The slowest of burns. I'm enjoying this, but we'll need to see something more soon.

Felt like a quick read this week, but with Fiends back next week, and all the other stories full of promise, the next Prog could be a banger.

47, apparently: http://ffreviewermalthusd.blogspot.com/2014/07/25-beneath-nightmare-castle.html

I've never played BNC but I really want to. I've picked up a copy for this very thread, I hope we get to it.

Jet. My grud, she was the only reason my teenage self watched Gladiators.
You are not the only one this applies to, JBC!

Same really, Dark Souls wasn't for me at all and it's put me off even trying Elden Ring. It looks pretty stunning graphically.

Alan Grant and Carlos Ezquerra by miles.
Abnett / Harrison I haven't read a lot of, but what I have read I didn't like much. May as well have been a different character.
The Worley / Willsher redesign I like, but aside from the first one the stories have not worked for me.

Yes, let's see her as a mature woman

I like looking at drawings of pretty ladies but if everyone else is aging in real time in Dredd, she has to as well. You can't have it both ways.
Plus, as Colin says, representation of mature women as the protagonist in comics (and a lot of other stuff) is severely lacking. There's a chance for 2000ad to be a real leader here.

I think DeMarco promised more than it delivered, overall.
Bad Company is a stone cold classic - or at least the first two parts are, as unlike Colin I thought the last two were dreadful. The first series especially is still absolutely amazing, and easily still enough to take this vote for me though!

Whilst looking for info on Iain McCaig I discovered that Deathtrap Dungeon has 31 'instant death' paragraphs.
By comparison (from a list compiled by someone who isn't me):

Warlock has 6, 3 of which are incorrect combinations of keys to the chest.
Citadel of Chaos has 19
Forest of Doom 3
Starship Traveller 13
City of Thieves 10
Lizard King 10
Scorpion Swamp 20
Caverns of the Snow Witch 24.

I had a dream I was in Trial of Champions last night, though it was quite different from the book - kind of like that old Gladiators TV show but with mythical beasts to fight on the way, a baying crowd and lots of Roman-style pomp and splendour.

Did you win?
And was Jet in it?
