Music / Lockdown suggestions
21 April, 2020, 09:52:06 PM
Hello folk.

So I have overplayed the last Green Lung album (fantastic as it is) and now I'm looking for some good rock suggestions (mainly fuzzy stoner bands). Got Asteroid, Atomic Bitchwax, F£&k the Fitzroy Doom Scene, Gorilla Pulp, Lowdrive, The Marlboro Men, Monstroid, Mothership, Nebula, Orange Goblin, Red Fang, Roadsaw, Solace, The Sword, Truckfighters, Unida and Conan already.

Any more suggestions? Ta.

04 October, 2016, 01:15:19 PM
Hello chaps.

Just received a copy of the 1987 Eagle annual which contains a 13th Floor strip. I can't quite figure out who the artist is though - pretty certain it isn't Ortiz. Any ideas?

Announcements / RIP John Hicklenton
23 March, 2010, 08:25:00 AM
We have just been informed by Pat Mills that John Hicklenton has sadly passed away.

Here are a few words from Pat:

John Hicklenton passed away peacefully last week.  His ending was an expected one and he saw it as a triumph over his illness MS.  Amongst his final words  to me were  "MS - you have a week to live, you've met someone you shouldn't have f*****  with".  A great artist and  a true hero.

Episode 1 Free To Download From 1st May 2009

Clickwheel.net, the world's leading digital comic provider, has announced that it will be launching a series of exclusive digital comics with 2000 AD.

Available only from Clickwheel.net, 2000 AD Origins features the very first stories from Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper and a myriad of characters and stories from throughout the comic's 32-year history.

Will Simons, Creative Director of Clickwheel said, "2000 AD has excited and shocked our readership in equal measure since they joined us in 2007. We're continually adding to the 2000 AD archive, but with over 30 years of content, this is not something you cannot do fast! To that end, we've worked closely with Tharg and the 2000 AD team to develop a series of character introductions so that new readers can access, for example, the first stories of Judge Dredd and see where the character started from, his motivations and how he's changed over the years."

The first, free instalment of the 2000 AD Origins digital comic will be available from 1st May only on Clickwheel.net.  Subsequent monthly instalments will be available to download for £1.99 or $2.99 in the US.

Impossible Pictures animation subsidiary Firestep have announced plans to develop full motion comics in collaboration with Rebellion, Europe's No.1 independent games developer.

Rebellion are rights holders of 2000AD, Britain's multi-award winning sci-fi comic that has been at the cutting edge of contemporary pop culture since it's first publication in 1977.

Best known as the home of Judge Dredd, 2000AD has created hundreds of memorable comic-book characters including Rogue Trooper, Nemesis the Warlock, ABC Warriors, Strontium Dog and many more.

Whilst the international appeal of these characters has been proven through comic book publishing and various merchandising deals including movies, computer games and action figures; this will be the first time any of these iconic characters has been brought to a TV audience.

Jason Kingsley, CEO and creative director of rebellion says "We are delighted to be working with Firestep in this way.  Whilst we are at the top of our field in developing computer games and in comics publishing, Impossible & Firestep are at the top of theirs in TV production where they have an enviable level of success, expertise and experience.  We sincerely hope that we can create a new generation of fans for 2000 AD's iconic characters and make great TV too"

The innovative concept of a full motion comic is also a first and aims to bring 2000AD to a broader, younger audience whilst still engaging its core fan base.

Firestep's Steve Maher says "We have an enviable creative challenge ahead of us in translating the extraordinarily diverse visual and narrative worlds of the 2000AD originals into animation. Beyond that we also want to structure the series in a way that mirrors the comic book- several short fully animated TV episodes of ongoing adventures, each starring a different 2000AD hero, each contained within a single show – a full motion comic."

Impossible Pictures & Firestep MD Jonathan Drake adds "We are aiming to have something to whet appetites in time for Comic-Con this year. Step one is about selecting properties that can chime with a whole new generation whilst satisfying existing fans."
