Very excited!  I never played the original so really looking forward to killing some Norts. Also, the preorder came with a nifty Rogue theme!

Amazing Artwork Spikes! Ian Kennedy is one of my all time favorite artists.

Several months ago I ordered three commissions from Ian: Dredd, Strontium Dog, and Rogue - interestingly, he told me (via Wiggs) that it was the first time he had been asked to draw Rogue!

The artwork showed up and it is mind blowing - I'm currently getting them framed together and will post when complete!

I haven't posted here in a while but literally stalk browse the forum everyday to keep the thrill power topped up.

I gotta say Eamonn these podcasts are glorious. I have a new job in which I sit at a desk for 8 hrs a day (living the dream...) and have been listening to music and plowing my way through these podcasts. Today alone I listened to Rogue, Stront, and Daily Dredds (of which I just bought vol 2 - it needs an episode! ) Tomorrow will be Halo, cursed earth, and more if I have time. Great stuff!

Wow Andy - great as always, possibly your best! I hope that Pat has the opportunity to see your entry as I think he would love it! (this whole July art comp thread for that matter). Why not throw it up on his facebook page - he would be flattered!

Nice one Bolt! Volgs dont stand a chance...

General / Re: Not sure if it's me or the prog...

I find it interesting that the prog dosent feature their 'heavy hitters' more often - if they ran Dredd in every prog with a rotation of Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper and ABC Warriors, and mixed in one new title occasionally this would make sense to me. The way it is now would be comparable to if Marvel published Spiderman monthly, but only published the Avengers and X-Men a couple times a year. Why not keep the most popular characters in the mag?

I don't read the prog/Meg regularly so cant have much of an opinion (I wait for the trades) but I really enjoy some of the new stuff like Kingdom and will be reading Lawless soon.

Fury: Agent 13 #2 prelim Cover by Mike Zeck - picked it up yesterday!

Any word on when #4 is hitting the stands? Its been months...would kind of like to see how things go down in MC1.

No sign of it in the Dark Horse August solicitations. Hopefully this isn't another Daredevil: The Target situation (I remember buying #1 off the stands and waiting for issue #2 with anticipation...it never came out!)

Bluearmada, it seems odd that you went through the effort of creating 3 threads to go on about Mills...I believe Pats pinions of any criticisms regarding 2000ad or his work are neatly summed up in his final sentence of the 2000ad documentary....

Also, I enjoy his ABC Warriors

Creative Common / Re: Comic/Art Framing

Thanks for the advice SIP. I had hoped to do it myself (buy really nice frames) to avoid the costly method of custom framing, but will consider your advice. I have a 40% off coupon for framing at a nearby crafts store, I'll check out their options and prices this week.

Just a quick heads up that everything seems to be falling into place for the film to be available free online tomorrow evening.

Yess!!  :D

Great news, I can't wait to watch it! The anticipation has been killing me-  Thanks for the heads up

Creative Common / Comic/Art Framing
19 May, 2017, 06:29:02 PM
I recently purchased some original artwork and progs that I plan to hang. I know several of you gents are collectors and display your zarjaz collections on the wall.

Does anyone have advice/examples how to frame a piece of art/comic to best preserve the art? I have been reading online and see that acid-free glass/wood etc. may be a consideration. I would also like to see examples of hanged art if anyone has any!

Cheers

I don't know the details, but I think it was incredibly thoughtful to include the names of board members (i.e. Minty, Goaty, Radiator, Commando Forces, Joe Soap, etc.) in the film. How did that come about that they got their names included, was it a contest?

I hope they do something similar with the TV show, forum exclusive contests and such as a way for fans to be heard/included. Its great that the 2000 AD community seems so tight and involved (as demonstrated by the success of the 40th bash).

General / Re: How did you first get into 2000ad?
12 May, 2017, 10:58:56 PM
I saw Dredd 2012 first (loved it), and wanted more so then I watched the Stallone film...not a recommended order to watch the films as it made the Stallone film eye-rolling difficult to watch. It did have some enjoyable parts (I liked the futuristic depiction of MC1 and the Angel Gang/cursed earth), however Rob Schneider should serve time in a cube for his role in the film. And the way Sly smiled at the end...just no.

Still, it was entertaining and  fun to see Dredd in action and I'm pleased they included Hershey in the film. I think those of you lucky enough to have seen it first years ago had the benefit of being young(er) at the time and now nostalgia.
