Rogue Judge

IDW will launch a new Dredd ongoing in April called Judge Dredd: Blessed Earth. It appears to be a continuation of the previous series, taking place 10 years after the ending of Mega City Zero.

Rogue Judge

I haven't been loving IDW's take on Dredd, so here's hoping it becomes less complicated/weird and more...Dredd like. I enjoy Dredd too much not to give this series a shot.

Also, I'm not sure how I feel about his facial hair. It kind of looks cool (Santa with a lawmaker), but I don't think he would grow a beard. As I recall, Dredd didn't like another Judge because he had a mustache (I cant remember which Prog, but there was a judge who felt discriminated against because of his mustache. I think it was during the Judge Child epic if I'm not mistaken).

I do like a Dredd story in the Cursed Earth though, and if this has a Mad Max vibe, I'm down.

COMMANDO FORCES

There's already a thread on this. Can a moderator merge them please!

I took a good look and didn't see a thread for this series, only for mega city zero. My apologies if its redundant!

It's over in Books & Comics.

I quite enjoyed the interview with them on the last podcast. I didn't get very far with Mega City Zero, so I might go back and read that first.

It was the Judge Child epic, and Dredd had made notes in the mission log about Judge Lopez's moustache.

Comportment: facial hair. Lopez.

that is all.

Wasn't there also a strip in which a judge, who was engaged in an extra-judicial relationship, complained that Dredd had always had it in for him because of his facial hair as well?

No offense to the creators involved, but did their first run on Dredd ('Mega City Zero') sell well enough to warrant a 2nd series?
It's hard to understand why IDW are doubling down on this.

That would be Judge Sladek in "The Falucci tapes"

It averaged arond 5,000 copies a month in the States, which is about the norm for an IDW title.

Presumably, IDW paid to have the rights for 5 years (or something), so not putting out a book would still be costing them money. Americans are never going to buy Dredd comics - at least this way Tharg gets paid for Americans not buying Dredd comics.

Honestly,IDW's version was pretty mediocre from what I saw.Judge Dredd lost on the internet of something?

Thanks for confirming. Because of this I've always had an immediate bias against Judges with mustaches. As though they are somehow less disciplined than those clean shaven. A judge with a beard looks cool, but Dredd would record his lack of a razor in his mission log. I mean, I don't shave often, but I'm no Judge!
