Any list of ten can't help but leave out some amazing stories. There's nothing wrong with Dante but I just had ten things I liked better.

Also the question was what are your top ten favourite volumes or story arcs, not what are your top ten favourite characters or series. That would produce a slightly different answer. For example I have listed three Nemesis books and a future shock.

-fascinated that Nemesis VI is getting a lot of love - I knew it was good but I guess I need to read it again. For me it was a toss-up between Books I, IV and VII.

For me it's book I then Book III then book VI. But I could easily put books IV and V on the list too.

So to provide some sort of answer as to "why Book VI"?

For me Bryan Talbot's art is a huge part of it, especially the way he gets expressions out of Torquemada's helmet. You just wouldn't think such a thing was possible but he does it here. There is just a wonderful gothic sort of feel to the whole thing.

And I just lover those scenes on the beach, especially the way Torquemada gets the Terminators back on his side and that he never doubted it for a second.

I guess it says a lot that so many people spend so long discussing a film / film series they don't like or no longer like or have no intention of seeing.

It just shows that even so called "bad" Star Wars is still important.

MCU has a long way to go before it becomes more important than Star Wars. Indeed for me it never will be.

Just so I am clear, I don't mean anyone on this forum and I don't think any Star Wars film is truly bad. Maybe disappointing compared to others in the series. Nor do I think TLJ or Solo will bring Star Wars to an end. After all TLJ is way better than TPM (IMO) and it survived that.

Going to the cinema and then buying the DVDs are mandatory for me. Can't say that about any other film series.

Yes - it's not a criticism at all. In fact I like GoTG more than a lot of the Star Wars films.

A sci-fi heist movie with robots, lasers, spaceships, explosions, and a hint of Star Wars.  What's not to like?

That's exactly how I feel about.

Now, having said that, it feels like the least Star Warsy Star Wars film ever.

Indeed it feels more like Guardians of the Galaxy (1) to me.

My local cinema has a £4.99 on Mondays deal.

Not that I have availed myself of it.

Agreed they Marvel and Star Wars films aren't action films. But they are blockbusters.

I mean, can you even name a single memorable action scene from, say, The Force Awakens...?

It might not have as much action as Fury Road, but I'd rather sit through TFA again than Fury Road and to me that is probably the most important measure of a film.  A good film isn't just about the action.

Another example - there seem to be a period a few years ago when The Terminator seem to be on "all the time"and I would sit there and watch bits of it even though I must have seen them countless times.

It really is the best action movie/blockbuster of the last 15(?) years, isn't it?

Its good and I liked it, but i wouldnt say it is the best film ever or the best action / blockbuster of the last 15 years.

Watched it again tonight and defo my favourite film of all time (... until I watch Princess Bride again that is!)

Can't believe a thread hasn't been started on this already.

Several news sources were  reporting yesterday that there are plans for a Game of Thrones prequel set thousands of years before the current series.

Just read the first issue. It was ok, certainly better than the other IDW Dredd stuff I have read.

It seems to be set in regular 2000AD continuity rather than the IDW Dredd one (given it features Chief Judge Hershey).

There was a particularly long SinDex epic that was totally insipid simply due to an artist (who had done fine work elsewhere in the prog) just being a bad fit imho.

Can you remember who it was?

I also finally saw it tonight. Yes I liked it. It had a quite different feel to other Star Wars films. I haven't read any of this thread so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I liked all the little Easter eggs. I was just waiting for them to make the Kessel run about a distance rather than a time.

Tobias Beckett really reminded me of Yondu Udonta.

I had been under the impression that [spoiler]Darth Maul died in TPM[/spoiler] but I guess not.

Finally apparently Michael K. Williams (Omar in The Wire) was originally cast as Vos. Now that would have been awesome.
