COMMANDO FORCES

The Legendary Shark

Yeah, you gotta' do something, man. Dogs live and breathe to socialise - locking them away like that is just abuse, plain and dirty.

Seeing as he works with animals, is it remotely possible that he's just fostering the puppy while it's in quarantine for some reason?  We do that for dogs and cats when there's no isolation kennels left in the local shelter, and it can seem awful to keep them apart, but it's not for very long and the alternative is worse.

Either way, I have the contact details for the Ulster SPCA sitting right here beside me if you'd like them.  Couldn't do any harm.

Noisybast

She's only gone and smashed my no longer available, barely ten month-old Dredd pint mug, hasn't she?

Fucksticks...
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

I have to get up at 0530. That's quite early for me.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

von Boom

My chair broke at work. Now sitting on a chair I had to pay for out of my own pocket and hope I get reimbursed.

Any earlier than that and it's reclassified as staying up late.

Ancient Otter

Just out the door on the way to work this morning and a stray puppy runs up to me so it's a bad day for someone somewhere....I'll try and see if I can find the owner.

I'm having an argument with a musical venue on Twitter (because I'm that kind of wound-up internet twat) but genuinely I'm interested to know - why do moderate-sized corporate music venues have strict no re-entry rules?

It means joe chap can't go out and a swift cheap pint next door, or use a cash machine without paying their surcharge. But is that IT? Is there some sort of thing where they think "if they're going out and coming back in they must be smuggling drugs" - what's the logic beyond cash-grabbing?

It's to do with trying to minimise hassle at the door. If you're going out and coming in again you should be counted out and then counted back in as you come and go, otherwise the venue will lose track of how many people are inside. They need to know how many are inside for insurance and fire reg purposes.
If you leave and come back again you should really have to queue again - you can't reserve your place in the venue and expect to come back later and walk straight in, otherwise the venue could be half empty while people are off drinking elsewhere.
From personal experience people don't get this. They think they've had to queue once so take exception to having to go to the back of a queue again, especially if it's at a 'one in, one out' capacity.
Easier to just say 'once you've left, you've left'.

CrazyFoxMachine

Ah I see - well on this occasion, which was about twenty minutes before the main band started (I just wanted to nip out for cash) there wasn't a queue. That doesn't really happen halfway through gigs surely, all the people that want to be in are in, although with club nights I can see more logic in the policy.

Lesson learned with regards to the O2 chain anyway - if you want a drink do it beforehand or smuggle a hipflask in!

The Doctor Alt 8

Oh pairs of rancid wrinkled testicles! I think I am getting a cold... I only just got over one a fortnight ago. Not fair!

At work all this weekend night shifts with a toothache which has prevented me from eating anything since breakfast yesterday (apart from 500mg Co-codamol), and with no emergancy dentist on call at the local hospital. Oh yeah and no sleep.

Toothache really is the worst; hope it gets sorted soon!

Cheers Sheldipez, I think its time for more painkillers. Hope I can get this sorted in the AM... :(
