Love Uwe's album cover. Nice composition on Ade's though, didn't catch it all in first glance! Also enjoying Matt Jackson's tribute to Carlos, the colouring on John Davidson's piece, and I think Paul Deej's gorily gothic Durham Red might be favourite so far.

Someone has made a pretty solid 1-page RPG, 'Dementia and Dealings', that reflect the cross-Atlantic trend of politics.

I recommend if you haven't already, googling "Thanos" then clicking on the infinity gauntlet on the right hand side of the search results.

Watched the 2018 Halloween and thought it was alright, definitely better than most of the other Halloween movies I've seen beyond the first.

About 1/3 of the way through Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse and I can already tell this is going to live up to the hype. From the comic book thought bubbles to a touching cameo from Stan Lee, it's my favourite superhero done in a way I never thought possible. And typically speaking, I think Spidey works best at a street level (at least Homecoming style) but of course there's so much good in the crazy world of comics that he lives in.

Well that was a lot of fun, and the most comic booky of all Marvel movies in that it became self-referential and tied up in its own continuity - and then bulldozed through any issues this caused in favour of the story or fun moments.

The only thing that niggles me is isn't Peter now 5 years behind roughly 50% of his class and of course, all the long-term issues of a world having 50% less people and then all those people back again. Going to be awkward for that bloke in the therapy group when his third date coincides with his husband coming back into existence.

Julian Assange is an egoist hiding his own collusion and actions behind an ideal.

Yes, no Batmanuel/Die Fledermaus, American Maid or The Living Doll (I imagine he might make an appearance though... You can't beat me, I'm made of tinier men! Maybe he was just a cartoon thing).

I read a book called Abbot from Boom Comics - pretty good stuff, if wrapped up a little too fast. Black female reporter in 1970s Detroit has a connection to dark forces she never even suspected, dark forces that have begun to rise again....

Nice artwork and a great main character who feels like part of a decently fleshed out and believable community.

My theory is that going forwards most depictions of God in Tooth are going to look
like Kurt Vonnegut
just to make you nerds second guess yourself.

Yes indeed - and yes, I did know. Starring Joe from Family Guy no less! Who is a great Tick, but from what I saw of that series as a youngling it was a little ahead of its time in what was actually achievable for 'superheroes'. After the glorious silliness of the cartoon show, the superhero banter at a diner (SuperNightHawks) fell a little short.

Season 2 is *great*.

Watched the second series of the Tick. So much fun. When Lady Justice calls your name, will you send her to the answer machine? Or will you hit the green phone icon of destiny, and spring two fisted on to the path of heroism!?

Love the opening credits, love the supporting stars, love every bit of this almost as much as I love the Tick cartoon.

I thought the last episode was a mess,
Leland was the Alien Queen rather than just a node? I think they should have stuck with a disembodied AI.
But it was alright, and I think overall the story was fine. I'm hoping to see more Discovery as soon as possible, even if they have
redacted Discovery from the history books
(I guess it was a secret weapon during the war!) I pretty much agree with JamesC. Of course the crusties like seeing the weaponised nostalgia of the Enterprise though :)

I read The Haunting of Tram Car 15 by P Djeli Clark, a rather good little novella set in an alternate Cairo where Djinn and other supernatural creatures have become commonplace since some point in the late 19th Century. I'm not a huge fan of 'urban fantasy' or 'ministry of magic' type stuff, as usually it comes off pretty hackneyed to me. But this was pretty brilliant with some compelling characters and I'd love to read more of this - I'll be reading it, A Dead Djinn in Cairo, on the train on the way home (available for free on Tor at this link).

Other than that I've been plowing through all the Laundry Files RPG books to mine for some stuff I'm putting together for the Delta Green RPG. Basically trying to do some material for the UK based PISCES agency, who are a kind of successful MK Ultra type programme but one that's been heavily compromised by aliens, unbeknownst to most of its agents. Some great stuff in The Laundry , might have to read them all again - kind of lost track around the Apocalypse Codex. One thing that leaps out in a difference of tone is that magic in the Laundry series is very commonplace for those in the know, far more than I really remembered.
