Bothered to tell Novotel, when they asked for feedback, about how crap their bar staff were on the Fri and Sat night.

Apparently they're usually praised to the hilt but were surprised by the amount of clientele on those nights.

Nice to know.

Stan Sakai and Sergio Aragones top the International Comic Guest list this year

No strong 2000ad showing again this year, but Brendan McCarthy and Pete Milligan should give good talks.

Also the tickets are now Day Passes rather than to individual events so the weekend overall cost has gone down from £80+ the last time I went to £40 odd.

Are we gonna need a new pub for the Friday? Is The Palace not convenient anymore?

I hate change. :(

Did Mr Fraser say why it wasn't used?
No, just that they went with something else. I kinda like it's unpublished status.

Are the Torq and Terminators in grey water colour?
Yeah, thick watercolour or gouache (corrected from gauche :)
Great art btw Colin.

The pieces I managed to blag at the 40th.

An unused cover showing an older, wiser, stouter and more follically-challenged (I can relate) Dante.

According to Simon meant as a companion piece to this classic.

And beautiful Purity, pursued by the shadows of Termite and a lovelorn Grobbendonk (which sold it for me)

I really love my Simon Fraser Dante piece.
You had a massive grin on your face when you proudly showed me that page.

Good buy. Good to see ya too.

The cascade happened in front of everyone.

Peroni gave way to Heineken gave way to poncy named bottled beers and finally, reluctantly, gave way to Budweiser.

And still they came.

Kronenbourg gave way to Fosters gave way to John Smith gave way, for an unlucky few, to cider.

And still they came.

The bin was a multicoloured wasteland of discarded gin, vodka, whiskey, tequila and wine bottles.

And, to the horror of the frankly crap hotel bar staff, still they came.

It was magnificent.

PS. Don't touch the fuckin' spoon, ok.

I presume the Novotel session is 3 till late? I'll see you there at some point I expect - I'll actually be arriving between 3-4 but am at the moment intending on heading over to Gosh! for Pat and Kev's signing thing before I take a sip o' liquor.

Myself, I'm going to the Moomins first, 'cos, you know, priorities.

What's everyone doing Friday night, I'll be down around 5ish, is there a pub meet anywhere?

Keen to know this too

Well there are two Friday meet ups I'm aware of.

The Southern Contingent are meeting up at the Novotel bar from 3pm onwards (we get thirsty early), very friendly bunch all welcome.

And the DSDC have a meet up from 7pm, though folks might arrive earlier, at the William Morris pub in Hammersmith. You'll probably recognise them by their DSDC tshirts and I vouch they're a friendly bunch too.

Hope that helps.

Hoping to get to the Cartoon Museum on Sunday too.

Hoping we can (drunkenly) arrange a (hungover) posse from the 40th to go to this on Sunday.

Just got an email saying I can upgrade my Novotel room to include Free Wi-Fi, coffee machine, rain shower, slippers and a robe.

Slippers and a robe, people! This weekend just went off the chain.
