I find it difficult to express how cool this man is.

Yes, that's a spaceman singing Space Oddity in space. For me, it's almost as cool as the nuclear powered robot that humans put on Mars so that it could shoot its laser at things. Incredible.

Everything that man does is pure gold.  I try to maintain cynicism re: PR spin of a national space agency versus real science, but it just doesn't work - that humans can work together to put a guy like in space to entertain, educate and inspire gives me hope.

Soon as they legalise gay marriage here I'm popping the question.

And flying cars, damn you sci-fi.

This is truly a great thing.

A fantastic, fantastic, fantastic video.

It's cheesy as bejaysus, hardly compares to the Bowie as a piece of music, and I'm sure there isn't anyone who hasn't seen it, but i still have to re-offer this link just in case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbCsH89rnKs.  Played on my MP3 player almost every day, cos I'm a sap.

Pretty much every kid in Canada - including my daughter - joined in with that song in one day. There were organised events at elementary schools all over the country. Now all the children want to be astronauts - and, with all the advances we have seen, it seems like they might even manage it.

Arsom.  Must be nice to have the coolest man on or off the planet as a native son.  We tried it once with Bono, but... well, best leave it there.

CrazyFoxMachine

Bowled over by this chap today - with the cheeky grin, Canadianness and tasche he reminds me of extinct uberdude Jimmy Doohan.

I'm not alone in feeling absurdly optimistic just because there's a lovely person orbiting the planet am I? There are douches running the countries but above it all is a smiley feller with a guitar.

There's a what now? I'm late to the party as usual, so I'll just have to pretend I was bathed in the benign warmth of floating space-Jesus's vapour trail all along - it's like The Specials all over again.

I'd never heard it. It's great. He's great. Space is brilliant.

Absolutely loved it !!....OK, it's maybe not the best version ever ......but the fact that he's actually up there, and singing it, brings a little joy into my life !!.... I mean the mans' in outer space, and he's got a guitar,  and he's singing to us !!.....Beats 'BGT' and 'The Voice' for sheer entertainment value in my book.....Great stuff and just awesome... :D

I can't believe that this has got nearly 600 'dislikes'...WTF is the matter with people... :'(

Beyond arsom.  I like to think David Bowie has been pulling the belly off himself 24 hours a day to this video, and if so, I fully empathise with him.
