And if you've forgotten part 1: Previously On - DUNE

I never got into Asterix - along with Tintin these were the teacher-approved comics you may find in the school library - I was reading 2000ad man, so fuck that shit!

The translators did do an amazing job though - the way they kept the joke by changing the language - not easy.

Uuurrggghhh. I'm glad I'm vaccinated up because if this is what it feels like with a readied immune system I dread how insufferable it would have been without.
My dietary palette shall be of a liquid persuasion for the time being, I fear.

Wish you'd mentioned that before I got in a lift with you today!

Yay, good news.

When I heard that our noble Hostile Environment policy had succeeded in removing a foreign freeloader, I rejoiced as a patriotic Englishman. This is no reason to deprive us of your colonial humour though, and your absence has been tut-tutted accordingly. I chose to dismiss any reports of so-called ill health as 'fake news' and instead believe that your silence was an outrageous attack on Britain's values, immigration policies and comics.

Seriously though, I was concerned, good to have you back, from an episode 1 subscriber.

(at Lawless '22 my biggest thrill was meeting and chatting to Conrad, way more than any of the illustrious creators there)

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 16 January, 2024, 06:17:19 PMMy parents are away, so I went back to their house last Friday to feed the cats for the weekend.  Then my mild dose of a cold suddenly became a very bad dose and they're still away and I'm still here.

They have Sky, and I'm really not used to watching whatever is on at the moment as opposed to whatever I want, even if there are about 70 channels compared to the 6 I grew up with.

But my Grud, Only Fools and Horses is amazing, isn't it? I watched the one with Grandad's funeral the other night and was just blown away by how Del Boy's wide-boy persona wavered and cracked in the face of tragedy. Hollywood's finest actors could learn from David Jason.

See, i haven't threadjacked too much.

I go over to stay with my old mum most weekends and have been reintroduced to Proper Telly. Before she goes to bed, it's usually murder of some sort. Midsommer Murders is actually pretty good - if you can suspend your disbelief about an area with about a hundred "big houses", thriving hubs of every tradition, hobby or activity known to middle-class England, and a murder rate to rival Colombia; the guest acting talent is top notch and it doesn't insult the intelligence. Brenda Blethyn as Vera is another good one.

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 12 January, 2024, 04:06:58 PMI always said Souther like mother too

That's because of your natural sense of how English pronunciation works.  Southerly, Southern, Souther.  It's what makes us all say "the little green pot" and never "the green little pot".

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 12 January, 2024, 04:06:58 PMbut then heard that a souther is a kind of wind and is pronounced like Leslie Crowther, which I think is how I said it on Eamonn's podcast.

'Suther' always sounded wrong because it just evoked Sutherland, but as a proud Nort(hener), we knew all about that there SOUTH. And these were sci-fi words, not supposed to be familiar so on day one I went for South-er, and that's the hill I'll die on.

After 45 consecutive years, I haven't read the prog or meg for over a year because I could not renew my sub and the subs help team couldn't find their arse with both hands.
