Why is there a need for a baby Judge Dredd comic? Are there baby versions of Batman?

Yeah they do a few things actually as well as this

http://www.dccomics.com/dckids/?action=comics&i=13256

They have few other kids titles he appears in. Some tired into TV shows some not. Apparently they're very good but haven't read them myself. Likewise Marvel have an extensive range of kids comics. Personally I believe they are very imnportant to increase the number of kids reading comics who will grow into the collectors of the future.

By the way, for all you know I could be an undercover 2000AD staff member or creator, or even your wife - so before you show yourselves up by ganging up on someone you thought was a kid, just think.

Ha that'll teach ya Deb. Sitting on the sofa pretending to watch tv indeed.

I have developed a theory that 2000AD is middle aged, middle of the road and fast approaching death. It is a fading comic created by middle-aged people, for middle aged people. When they die off, there will be no one left to care.

You may think this is pure trollery, but attracting new, younger readers and creators is essential to 2000AD's survival - so you better listen.

Ok so following Golledge's advice I'll ignore all the insults for a second and listen. How do you feel 2000ad needs to change to attract new younger readers and creators?

I've read the DC Showcase Jonah Hex and love it (as well as The Unknown Soldier). Gritty revenge western that doesn't pull any punches.

Mind you, I'm kinda wary of the upcoming JH film, that Megan Fox will dominate the the movie simply because she plays a whore and wears a corset.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with that in itself (!) but Jonah Hex is much more than that.

Couldn't agree more about Megan Fox's breasts getting in the way but we'll wait and see. Mind this polt summary from imdb doesn't instill me with confidence either.

"In the Wild West, a scarred bounty hunter tracks a voodoo practitioner bent on liberating the South by raising an army of the undead."

I've not read the Vertigo version of Jonah Hex but didn't that involve such shenanigans?

Anyway I'll wait and see. Also couldn't agree more that the Unknown Soldier Showcase is very good. Its a real shame that neither has got a second volume yet.

Echoing what people have said really but 2000ad is still very good value compared to American comics. Cheaper, more pages of original material, larger size and while this is subjective better quality than most.

Well just read issue 50 and have to say it is frankly superb. For anyone who likes western comics, or heck just plain great comics in general treat yourself pop to your local comic shop and shell out on this book. Its an absolute gem. Its $3.99 (whatever that translates to in your local shop), you get 38 pages of art by Darwyn Cooke and more story than you'll get in 6 issues of any $3.99 Avengers title with still enough time to have truely chilling scenes played out with wonderful pacing.

For those that have read it the scene with Jonah in the jailhouse with standing off with the sheriff is just glorious huh.

Amazon UK are now pre-listing the following choice cuts:

19 Aug 2010 - Harlem Heroes - 320 pages

Well its always worth taking Amazon listing this far ahead with a massive pinch of salt BUT this one gets me a bit excited. I'll ignore the page count for now but still I'll be chuffed to get the original Harlem Heroes run and Extreme 13 still evades me.

Pity Mr MacNeil didn't draw the entire storyline.  If you HAVE to have Ezquerra-less Stront, then it really ought to be Colin every time.
It may be a lot to do with it being in colour (SD should always be b&w in my book) but I really wasn't happy when Tharg used MacNeil to finish off the story. It jars so much with the atmosphere which had been created up to that point.

Yeah agree with that. While I love Colin's work it was a shame that Simon Harrison couldn't have seen it through (rather than giving us Bradley, which while I loved it at the time hasn't stood the test of time for me)
