I'll take a look at that - the only one I remember is "I'm pinching your head" (confession - I still do this sometimes)

Are there any meet ups now and again for fans in Scotland?

There's a well practiced formula:
1. pick a date well in advance, often around a convention
2. several people agree to meet
3. cancel one by one due to other commitments, until all agree to reschedule in a couple of months.

And welcome to the board!

I enjoyed these but was a bit lost - is there a vid that explains the basic mechanics? Those dice rolls were baffling! There's so much content on your channel (which I'm about to start browsing) but I haven't found that one yet.

and as Trooper McFad said, your set-up is fabulous, love those cardboard street sets

Welcome back! We're happy to talk about golden age progs or the new stuff - don't blame you for the long gap, a lot of readers were lost in the 90s. As I hope you're finding though, the prog is back on form with some great stories.

Don't worry about a lack of encyclopedic knowledge - most of us are middle-aged nerds who love nothing more than answering obscure questions about old and new thrills, so don't be afraid to ask.

News / Re: Kevin O'Neill's Mek Memories
« on: 29 March, 2022, 07:16:01 PM »
Just got my copy today, it comes in a envelope with the front cover on with a free print inside.
This is well printed, has a new front cover and and an comes unstapled (at Kevin's request)
Inside there are some great unseen images by Kevin O'Neill from the early 70's with an introduction on how this and Just Imagine (a special effects fanzine) helped get him his job with 2000AD and a disagreement about Robot Archie along with Pat Mills original idea not to have robots in the comic

That's odd - any explanation why he requested that?

last week I got 3 progs and a meg on same day, plus various letters postmarked up to 10 days ago. Things got a bit better with the mail for a while after the MP got involved, but we're now back to a weekly bundle rather than daily post.

Just back from a mini break to Dublin. Which of course meant I had to look up Jayzuz B Christ for a pint or three. Top fella!

Had a great evening in some of the less leprechauny pubs, and the next day I tracked down his Dredd window  (pic doesn't do it justice, it was too sunny):

Bizarrely, Hilton prices have now dropped quite a bit - over £150 cheaper than last time I checked- still not cheap, but I'm going to splash out and treat myself. It's always nice to be able to just roll out of the bar into the lift!

More generally, advertisers just don't appreciate music.

Nothing bugs me more than slow, wistful acoustic versions of classic rock tracks, usually accompanying supermarket Christmas ads

Oh good that daisy daisy daisy ad makes me want to smash the tv, even if it was the nicest smell on earth I wouldn’t buy it in protest to the narffist  ad ever

My mum's 90 and tends to repeat the same things given the same prompts - that Daisy one always winds her up something rotten every single time it comes on! That and the "I'm perfect" one.

I love going to talk at an event where I'm 10% of the audience - it's like an intimate gig rather than something at Wembley stadium.

Al Ewing did a Q&A in an upstairs room of a Manchester pub about 7 years ago - there were only about six of us there, so when they needed the room after an hour, we all just moved down to the bar and carried on chatting.

Have you seen the prices that the Hilton are charging for rooms this year?  :o

Maybe it's because I left it a bit late, but they want almost £500 for 2 nights! The Ibis and Travelodge are offering doubles at about half that rate.

Wow! I was early (well the wife was) but they weren’t that much. Seemingly there’s a music festival in the area that weekend so probably put up all rooms

It was far cheaper in previous years, but if there's a lot on best get something booked before the others go up too!
