The board game that is - apparently a limited edition release going on sale 12 noon Friday

Includes Mega Mania too.
If you would all be so kind as to wait until I've got mine before getting your that would be appreciated...
Holy shinolee! $$$ will be dropped by this Squaxx.
When I was a little urchin, I couldn't afford these, and I've never wanted a mouldy olde ebay effort, so this is like dangling a cream-filled caramel donut in front of my face half an hour after spliff't-off.
Interesting! I wonder how much it will go for.... however much it is, it looks veeeery tempting!
Hopefully we'll get the original Judge Dredd boardgame next. That would be pretty good too*.

I am booking the day off work and setting up a tent and large empty plastic bottle next to my PC so I'm first in the queue when the doors open at midday!!
Oh FFS.
Still got the original...

Box selloptaped together and everything. It's great. Takes HOURS to play. So cool though.

The will is there (I'm sure there was a brief twitter conversation between Ian Livingstone and Jason Kingsley a year or two back, but I can't find it right now).
That's some lovely class art right there!
Brett Ewins? He did some lovely stuff for the old Games Workshop Chainsaw Warrior game.

He did and while I assume rights for that game reside with Games Workshop if Rebellion Unplugged are looking for areas to expand into with reintroducing retro gaming this is one they should defo think about.
All being well I'm kinda assuming we might get a Rogue Trooper boardgame re-issue as well if this one proves worth it.

The Rogue game was wonderful. Beautiful board.
Interesting, I'd have thought the original 1982 GW Dredd game (with the awesome Ian Gibson board) would have been first up for a reissue. Perhaps there are rights issues.
Block Mania does also look great but as alluded to above it is a bit fiddly and long-winded to play - it ends up with lots of cardboard counters on the boards and the block collapse mechanic can take ages. A word of advice for anyone who buys it (or who's still playing the original) - modify the rule about rolling two dice to determine action points to something like rolling three dice and picking the best two, or disregarding ones and sixes, because otherwise the results are so random it's impossible to stick with a strategy.
Very tempted by this, anyway.
I'd imagine it's IP related. GW have always been extremely protective of their copyrights but they've opened up a little to working with third parties the last year or two... this seems like a 'low risk' experiment in a collaborative rerelease in that it has the Dredd connection but isn't as potentially valuable as something like Rogue Trooper or the Dredd game itself which are bigger fish IP-wise.
Alternatively it may be a tester to just selling the rights to Rebellion, which would be pretty awesome.

This is such a good idea.
Holy Sneck! Where did this drop out of? This seems to have arrived unheralded.
I can't find any details of cost. There is a fellow who put a second hand copy up on boardgamegeek only last week looking for €140! I think the reprint should be less than half that cost, I'd guess (£30-40/€40-50) which is probably the going rate. I got the Dredd Helter Skelter game there recently for about €50 I think, and it had a bunch of nice minis with it (Helter Skelter is excellent, by the way.). Block Mania is a bit more old school with card components.
I was fortunate enough to get Rogue Trooper and the Dredd RPG back in the day and had lots of fun playing them. Chainsaw Warrior was so Brett Ewins-ey flavoured that it felt like a 2000ad game too. A friend of mine was a huge fan of Block Mania and was very enthusiastic about the sheer chaos involved in trying to get any kind of strategy going. You just had to embrace the madness and revel in the destruction all round.
I am intrigued to see if any extra rules will be included in these editions. The kind of thing that might have been described in White Dwarf maybe.
I have a feeling I will be rushing to buy these in any event!
Yeah looking at the prices on the website linked to from the article I'm nervously optimisitc that the going rate is £30 - £50 for each set - so Block Mania £30-£50, Mega Mania £30-£50. These are utter guess work of course.
Just not sure how this being a 'limited edition' affects these things?

Well it may just be a fancy way of saying that they'll print a small amount to test the waters.
It does all seem a bit out of the blue. A nice surprise I guess!
I wouldn't expect a board game with mostly cardboard components to be priced at much in excess of £30. And expansions are generally priced a little lower than their 'parent' games. I certainly think anything over £60 would be quite steep for these two games.

White Dwarf had some additional rules, which are included in the new edition.

I'd guess it might go a bit higher for what's likely to be a pretty limited run, but fingers crossed.
Chainsaw Warrior also had some extra bits published in White Dwarf. Loved the production design on that one.
I think I still have Chainsaw Warrior here too.

Of course Chainsaw Warrior is uniquely suited to lockdown being a single player game! For those who haven't had the opportunity to play that game it's essentially a boardgame version of a first person shooter computer game. It appeared years in advance of anything similar on a computer and it featured lots of Brett Ewins art. The Warrior himself looks like what Kano would look like if the Krool never got their hands on him.
Does anyone know what happens in Block Mania if you daisy chain on any extra blocks beyond the two in the original game and the two in Mega Mania?
"All units respond! Major sector-wide confront in progress!"
Order place and thought it was a great price, looking forward to getting this
Snagged one - only £30 - so very happy with that, bottom end of what I was expecting! Don't see Mega Mania yet though. I got the impression they would both be out at the same time - but that might be me reading too much into things!
I also ordered it. Something to look forward to once my board game group can meet up again.

Yep. Not me though. I've seen photos of a game at a convention where there were a high number of blocks (can't remember and can't check as I'm in my lunch hour at work - and work computers block selected gaming websites).

Now there's just one question: "I'm with Rowdy Yates Block! Who are you fighting with??"
No sign of Mega Mania, but then I didn't have much luck finding Block Mania initially either. Anyone spot it?
Decent price indeed, but for some reason I was expecting the two to be bundled together.
It suggests they are bundled together:
" Rebellion Unplugged are delighted to present, for the first time in over thirty years, a brand new printing of the Games Workshop classics Block Mania and Mega Mania."
Hmm. Have examined the wording further, and yeah, it's not clear at all!
The blurb that was sent out in the newsletter shows two separate boxes, so maybe Mega Mania + Happy Hour is a separate expansion?

That was my assumption and at £30 surely there's no way you get both? I still can't see Mega Mania so guessing that's a later release? I'll keep checking back as the day goes on just in case.
On another note when I first ordered it said it was due to be released in February - which I was absolutely fine with. Now it says shipping in 4 days!

A printing of two products suggests they're going to be bundled - though the description at the bottom of the page says two boards - for those not familiar, this means two blocks - i.e. the original Block Mania but not the expansion.
Another unnecessary purchase made. Huzzah!

Yes even the shipping weight would confirm that you're getting the original game only.
The blurb is confusing though because it mentions that Mega Mania is being reprinted too.
The £30 price tag for both would be a throwback to the '80s where one of these games would be in the GB£12.95 bracket! £30 for Block Mania alone is very good value, I think.

(Doesn't mean us and the Montalban Blockers don't have some BIG plans to celebrate your block's good fortune, mind you!)
Had a curious email telling me they have shipped Mega Mania and the rest will follow... I mean... Tharg, what are playing at - send them both together, I can wait!
OK, so Tharg didnt wait and I now have Mega Mania, but no Block Mania..... what's the story there I wonder? Anyone else get their Block or Mega either/both?

Those Command Module Blockers have been cocking a snoot at us for too long.
I suggest we take action! I propose... a Block War!
My account also suggests that Mega Mania alone had been posted out, but I figured that was just a product of me ordering separately and then requesting the two orders to be combined. Weird that they would be sent separately. I don't know when my copy will arrive though. I only got Prog 2209 yesterday! (I'm in Ireland).
Looks like Mega Mania got sent before Block Mania by about five days, but who am I to argue with the wisdom of Thargnanimous and his board game elves droids.
Received block mania today
Yeah, got an email saying it was sent (a week ago!) but the same happened with Mega Mania, so not too concerned
I'm getting a bit nervous now as I've had dispatch notices for both Mega Mania (30th November) and Block Mania (2nd December) and neither have arrived. The rest of the order I put in for Mega Mania (this was before the combo) arrived promptly. Didn't worry about that at the time as as I figured Mega Mania would be dispatched from elsewhere. But nowt having arrived yet is making me a bit edgy. I'll give it to the end of the week before I ring. I guess.
My Mega Mania showed 30th too, but only turned up two days ago
Being US-bound, I have to extend my patience out by about a month. And then add a month for Xmas. And then add a month for Covid. And then add a month for the civil unrest surrounding the inauguration.
Looking forward to cracking open the Mania sometime in May 2022.
I'll swap you for however long it takes for my Neil Young Archives Vol II takes to ship.... 3 weeks and counting, it has variably been held up in "transit", "customs", "supplier" (despite being purchased directly FROM the supplier!) back to "customs", to beng free from Customs and shipping last week to still being free from customs but mysteriously not shipping til next week.
Why indeed, Neil.....

I've only had a dispatch email for Mega Mania. Delivery turned up today, with delivery note for Mega Mania, but the package only contained Prog 2209!
I'd be questioning that RP! Was it a big enough box for the game?
No Block Mania round these here parts, but its gotsta be soon.....
Seems like the wait for Block Mania is going to spark some kind of civil disturbance! Ready the pat wagons.
I've had Mega Mania for a couple of weeks, but my Block Mania has never arrived. Is this the same with everyone else?
Funnily enough I was going to ask a similar question today. I've still not go either - have despatch notes for both and I'm on the point of getting in touch to see what can be done. The trouble is with Royal Mail being so rubbish I'm not sure what can be done and will I just be needlessly adding to the problems and still need to be a bit more patient...
The concern is I've had so much other stuff land. Including a load of stuff from Rebellion that was on the same dispatch note as Mega Mania - though I think they'll be coming from a different location as I don't think Rebellion are sending these out themselves?
Yes, similarly I have two despatch notes. Its very odd.
I often receive despatch notes from Rebellion after I receive the goods, so I tend to ignore them.
Well I broke and contacted Rebellion. Half expected it to land the moment I did but no. Most things are landing on a much better schedule now and so I'm a bit concerned about whats going on with this one. Fingers crossed its just a matter of being a bit more patient and I'll regret bugging them!
