...but having just checked it in a rhyming dictionary it seems it might well be "as rhymes with pretend"

Well I never! Next you'll be telling me Slain doesn't rhyme with "pain"!

Now I have asked this a couple of times before, but no-one has committed to an answer. So I'm going to have to press you all here: is it 'Regened' to rhyme with 'gleaned' (as in have new genes) or 'Regened' to rhyme with 'lend' (as in 'made for a new generation')?

I think a Dredd-verse story about Justice Dept Cadets, with a new roster of young, slightly flawed characters (some of whom might even begin to question the fascist regime they're being groomed into) with the occasional Dredd cameo might work better than "Cadet Dredd".  There's no real "threat" to the Cadet Dredd stories because we (and I assume even younger readers) know he grows up to be the Old Stoney Face we all love/hate.

... or maybe I enjoyed Mayflies too much.

I agree with everyone's love of Mayflies. Alongside Full Tilt Boogie and Dept K, I am enjoying the Regened stories which centre on a team rather than an individual.

That being said, whilst I enjoyed the team set-up of Action Pact, I worry the premise of time-travel aspect doesn't quite work with aliens as time-travel tends to rely on the reader having a basic knowledge of history, which we don't have for alien planets. However, I enjoyed the art and pace of the action so am happy to be proven wrong.

I enjoyed the art and premise of Viva Forever. I think it could have done with a visual clues that we were in MC-1 (wouldn't the Judges be after her?), but enjoyed the ride.

Futureshock was fine.

Mayflies was great.

Not my favourite of all the Regenes but certainly some good stuff in there.

(Is there any reason why the freight terminal is called 'Orinoco'? Has to be a reference there I'm missing.)

Its CLEARY a commentary on the overt capitalism of the recording artist, Enya!!!!

Isn't the Vigilante just a robot? (Much like Dredd himself is sometimes portrayed)
Loving it either way!

Really enjoyed The Gyre. Now I want a series of Barney's backpacking adventures around the world. I feel it would serve as a great Dredd-world "Lonely Planet" whilst also allowing for comedy highjinx!

Absolutely agree with Tjm86

The Meg is indeed firing on all cylinders.

Was thrilled to see more Simon Colby Dredd. A similar tone to the recent prog story he drew, but a much more satisfying story.

Megatropolis, Dreadnoughts and Deliverance all continue to be brilliant with their alternative/past/cosmic horror takes on the Dredd's universe, and despite not really understanding the premise of Returners, I do love the artwork and like the magical/horror side of the world it explores. Unfortunately, its not as obviously "Dreddverse" (or even alt-Dreddverse) as the other strips, and I think that makes it feel a little out of place with the rest of the Meg's offerings.

Good floppy this month too. Nice to have Traumatown as an all-in-one, and I've never read The Gyre so that was a welcome bonus.

Still enjoying this entire run!

Dredd - beatuiful art from Patrick Goddard, with lovely colours from Dylan Teague to compliment it. The concrete grey of the city really allows the characters to pop.  Enjoyed the story though was caught off guard by
its lack of a "classic Dredd" ending where we'd usually expect her to wind up in the cubes
.
I'm absolutely up for a "new Chopper".

Slain - Still really enjoying this final ever Slain. More monsters, flames and fighting gorgeously painted.

Proteus Vex - now with even MORE Lil Vex!!! I love that wee fella.

Durham Red - Again, still loving it. Strong line and colours in the artwork (including fantastic use of frosted breath). Can't wait for the (hopefully|) eventual vamp-out for DR.

Hershey - So, last week I said I was hoping for (1) Frank to fight back (2) Hershey to learn something or other about the nature of revenge (3) Joe remains unharmed. So this week felt like
a giant fuck you haha
See y'all next week for the quarterly Regened debate ;-)

As with previous weeks, I'm here to pretty much say "I agree with everyone else and am #TeamHershey"

Dredd - I really like a cit-centric story where Dredd is more of a presence. Loved the art, and the story generally, but felt the last panel fell a bit flat as a "his thoughts remain private - like his health care - geddit?" gag.

Durham Red - I continue to absolutely love this! Artwork that pops with action and back stabbing. I reckon she'll have the prisoners on side by the end of next week, but for now, loving the pace and story telling of this one.

Proteus Vex - I just LOVE the design of Lil Vex so was thrilled to see him pop out. Like Colin, I was forced to pause and ponder the wisdom of fixed and fluid nature of the present and future. The growing tension of the arrival of Citheronians has me very excited. Great stuff!

Slain - I'm really enjoying it. Loads of great art with action and monsters. Particularly liked the page with Ukko with the Celtic design flowing through it. Plus, the ghosts haunting the palace guards were terrifying. I'm glad the final Slain adventure I'll read is THIS good.

Hershey - I've been enjoying it (though always with one foot in the "its just a deathbed dream" camp). Particular enjoying the boxing. I hope Frank gets to fight back next prog. I really do. And hopefully Hershey will learn something about the nature of revenge and nobody will hurt Joe

Well done Toby Willsmer on the Art Stars pin-up. Though I always thought Sam Slade was best as a girl (I'm kidding! I'm kidding!). I might have a go at the ABC Warriors one, just for the fun of it (though I do this that every time)

I'm loving the current line-up and this prog was particularly good.

Comedy, action, drama, it had it all, plus, Dredd's arse!

Re: Proteus Vex

I get what you mean. I think I preferred the simplicity of "adventures of enigmatic galactic super spy who happened to really be a little guy controlling a flesh suit" as a premise. Now he's got the memories of the general popping into his head, its adding a layer of complication to the set-up and making the character come across as a bit "moodier". I'm hoping once this series plays out, he gets rid of the memories and it resets to a simpler set-up.

Loving everything in the prog at the moment. I just wish I'd read the first Returners series because I'm not sure I entirely understand what the premise is (something about a curse and memory wiping?), yet I still enjoy it. Was that
the Black Museum curator
making a cameo? /

And yes, the encyclopedia felt a lot more "readable" this month too.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said.

Dredd - I couldn't quite remember which mom which was which coming into this, and it took a few rereads of the opening pages to work it out. But I quite enjoyed it overall as a final chapter. I think the story could have been told quicker. Thankfully, the Meg provided a good one-and-done Dredd this month so that kept my Justice Dept thrill-circuits satisfied.

Durham Red is my top thrill. Simple premise done well. The cleaness of the art really pops after the muddier pallette of Dredd.

I'm very much #TeamHershey but understand why people can't get onboard with the premise.

Vex is fun. Love the art. Think I know what's going on generally. If not, I don't mind.

I was starting to think Slaine was being a bit TOO overpowered across these first chapters until that lovely last page added a bit of peril to the mix so looking forward to where it goes.

The letters page suggests a year of returning favourites ahead.
