I bet it's rubbish.
Heh, heh, heh.
- The evil one
Cover does NOTHING for me. Still at least it's jovial.
"Budda budda"?
Well done that Dom, or whoever's responsible for that!
- Trout
Is that a Mark Harrison cover?
Yup
I've been waiting for a news update for so long, it's like a wave of relief breaking over me!
Christmas prog looks good, like the cover, very festive!
c-c-Clint l-Langley.
b-b-back...Backgrounds!
Truly it is a miraculous X-mas prog to look forward to!
Tulkas (in shock)
Personally, I'm in shock at the sudden appearence of backgrounds in Samantha Slade ... the Slaine work looks good - Langley putting some more dynamism into his figures - and the cover's very nice ...
Now ... we wait.
I really liked the Prog 2003 cover. ("Old Master")
Otherwise, I take Wake's point.
- Trout
Slaine looks breath taking, surely THE best, better than Bisley or Fabry, all hail King Langley... kiss his axe!
That covers looks strangely like one for Whizzer and Chips or The Beano. Maybe Tharg is courting younger readers after all!
Looks more viz than Beano
I dunno- remember the first time seeing Bisleys painted Slaine??? Breathtaking
I just got the "The Bible"- fuck me! he's good
Link: The Bible
That is a fucking ACE cover :-)
Much better than last year, and much better than the preview image in the back of the prog suggested.
Langley's work in Slaine is beginning to appeal to me - I'll have to wait and see it in the flesh, but it looks much better than last time around. Cabs, Dante and Sin/Dex all look gorgeous, and they should stack up in the story department as well. Not sure about Robo-Hunter, though. The art is still very empty...
Like the "hit videogame" bit, though. Nice to see some confidence ;-)
Cover is more 'White Dwarf' interior than all those cited... Mark Harrison back to 'tooning! Oh happy day!
And Langley produces Tooth's first photo strip since Nemesis wandered into Forbiddne Planet..
Wow. Mark Harrison's Drucker influence has been apparent for years, but I've never spotted Jack Davis in his work before now.
I don't much like it. It's too cluttered, and the perspective doesn't flatter it. Very cute likenesses though.

Just spent a bit longer studying Harrison's cover - it's blimmin' marvellous! Santa Wulf, Sam and Slaine pulling a cracker, brooding Savage, Dante groping Jenny, it's the most entertaining cover in ages!
I don`t see why it`s an improvement. I like the prog 2001 cover much better. As someone says above, at least it`s jovial, in a very Mad magazine way
I think the cover for prog 2003 looked much better than any of the others. It was second best. 2000 was best followed by 2004, 2001 and then 2002 which was awful.
That covers terrible. Looks far too overcrowded and rushed. Meh. Slaine and Caballistics look great, though!
Darren
There's not a lot in the prog, is there? Looks like six stories.
H'mm. So it is only six after all? Could be they're all double-length or there's going be a LOT of murky screenshots and wireframe Norts, unless there's a few surprises in Tharg's sack.
erm... If anyone had read the inside back cover of the prog you would know that there are 7 confermed stories 'plus much, much more!'
Not everyone subscribes or lives in the U.K., Max, and often rely on the site.
just pointing out that there are more than six, and wondering why no-one else got their first.
"And in addition, to bring the wonderful world of 2000 AD to your home as easily as possible, we have our best subscription offer yet, but we're not telling anyone the details. Call it a Christmas surprise!"
Well, I am thinking of subscribing again. So I'll wait and see what it is.
Oh well, better dash, so I can get this weeks prog.
"lot's lot's more" normally means Nerve Centre, (possibly) input page, and a few adverts.
I agree with Jared on his run down of the top covers.
2000
2003
2004
2002
Although I do think that 2005 is better than 2002, and probably 2004.
It looks like seven double-length stories:
Dredd
Caballistics Inc
Sinister Dexter
Robo-Hunter (these four are self-contained)
Slaine
Second City Blues
Nikolai Dante (these three are the premiere parts of new stories)
Not sure what joins the lineup with 1420 in January though. Low Life, possibly?
--Grant
Not sure meself, presumably that (and it's the Dirty Frank outing IIRC) or Tiger Sun Dragon Moon.
or both to make 5 stories
am I the only person that noticed "Tales Of The Leviathan" in the line-up on the cover?
...yeah, but if they both started in 1420, there'd be no Dredd.
Alternately, Pat Mills' stories have been using the "double-length sixth episode" trick a lot, so it's possible progs 1420-1423 will have Future Shocks, a double-length Slaine in 1424, and both Low Life and Tiger Sun starting in 1425.
--Grant
then there are 9 stories in next weeks prog
Oh Mighty One,
Well, I've just convinced my wife that she should get me a subscription to 2000AD and The Meg for Christmas.
If we subscribe now, will we get this best ever offer or do we have to wait for a bit?
wait till next week. 1 week isn't too long to wait.
Or phone Denise at subs, who probably knows what's going on already.
I like the Demon Jenny / Nikolai "sizzling hand" incident on that cover.
Do we know what the megs cover is like yet and also are we getting another calender this year (hope so)
It's not uploaded to this site yet..but when it is, it will look like this:
a little birdy told me that a cetain story beggining with L and ending with N is returning for a one-off then getting printed in one ultimate volume.
Might be a lie though
hope not
i might need to get used to the cover
cover looks like it should be on viz. demon jenny bit is funny though.
art for slain and sindex looks wicked
Got mine this morn. 8 full stories and a 12 panel droid life.
How did you get it htis morning, you cheeky git?!?!
[Gnnnn!! Another day and a half to wait!! Impatience growing...!!!}
"How did you get it htis morning, you cheeky git?!?!"
He's a witch, and technically, a cyber-git.
