Title: Futurequake #4 ... has arrived!
Post by: Dudley on 12 May, 2005, 04:29:48 PM
"I have no doubt that many of those now appearing in FutureQuake! will appear among the top professionals of tomorrow" - Alan Grant

"...the future of comics..." - Tharg the Mighty*

Futurequake! is a British comic exclusively dedicated to the pleasures of the short story.  Within our pages you can find many worlds? Nazi dinosaurs share space with reality game show astronauts, benefit-cheat superheroes and Aztec gods?

Founded by reclusive and possibly mad genius Arthur Wyatt, the comic is now in saner if not necessarily safer hands. We feature strips from new writers and artists and have proved successful at attracting some top international talent alongside home-grown geniuses. Or is it "genii"? Anyway.

Futurequake issue 4 is now on sale, in its smart new full colour cover with an astonishingly good image from Matt Timson, which we ain't gonna spoiler here.

It also features the first UK work from Stewart McKenny (Captain America, Star Wars), Gibson Quarter (Northern Lightz), Julia Bax (Kaos!), and Cullen Bunn (two times winner of the World Horror Competition Gross-Out Contest), and many, many more creators besides!

We're also pleased to announce our final god-like professional contributor.  Yes, alongside the Alan Grant introduction and full colour strip from Inaki Miranda and Eva de la Cruz (script by Cullen Bunn), we're running exclusive art by none other than Arthur Ranson.

And Oddboy, Bou, Tank Grrl and Mr Dribbles might be happy to know that, yes, he brought his lightbox with him...

All this, and 46 pages of strip besides!

Futurequake #4
FEAR THE FUTURE

* Some quotes may have been taken somewhat out of context.  We also fear Rigellian Hotshots.

Bloody well done guys - looks like all your hard work is finally paying off. Superb!

You'll almost know what it feels like to be punters like us (except that you don't have to pay for your copies).

By the way, do you know what size you're printing at?
Title: Re: Futurequake #4 ... has arrived...
Post by: Richmond Clements on 13 May, 2005, 12:30:25 AM
I believe that you are a contributor to the comic in question, and thus are entitled to a complementary copy. Unless, of course, you insist on paying...

Size eh..? Bolt?

Title: Re: Futurequake #4 ... has arrived...
Post by: Byron Virgo on 13 May, 2005, 01:19:59 AM
Well actually I do insist on paying - how on earth do any of you people expect to make any money if you're giving out free comics willy-nilly to any wandering hobo-type who asks for them?!

It's no wonder everything in the Small Press is non-profit...
Title: Re: Futurequake #4 ... has arrived...
Post by: Bolt-01 on 13 May, 2005, 02:04:23 AM
Byron's gotta pay! He's not a comp.

We are printing A4 size, the same as the other issues of FutureQuake. However, unlike the other issues of FutureQuake we are having a full colour cover, and back cover too.

Bolt-01, who has seen te finished article and declares it good.
Title: Re: Futurequake #4 ... has arrived...
Post by: Richmond Clements on 13 May, 2005, 02:30:55 AM
So that's that!
A4 and you're paying!

I'll have one too, please.

And I'll gladly pay. Have you got PAYPAL sorted or do I need to send a cheque?

Once you've got the other PDFs and scripts up on site, I'll pimp it to all of my mates.  Both of them should be quite interested.

I'm hoping we'll have paypal sorted by the end of next week.

You'll get your copy before then though.

Bah! You won't need luck, you've got pros involved, and you got pimped in 2000AD, and the end is nigh won't need luck for similar reasons, so I'm wishing luck for Lost Property instead (I'm not saying that i hope that Futurequake and the end is nigh fail-especialy not the end is nigh, I've got some work in that one that'll go into my cv- I'm just saying Lost Property needs the luck more, as there aren't any pros involved, or any pimping in any comic or comics website)

Please furnish me with the details and I'll happily nab a copy too.

Cheers.

The answer is that old favourite, "website issues".  The damn thing crashed over the weekend (the entire server crashed, fun fun fun).  The chatrooms are still not online and the PayPal isn't sorted.

Dammit it all Jim, we're editors, not web designers!

Anyone wanting a copy at the moment needs to sendmail me or Dave.

Turned out that the server 2000ad.nu was one (and hence Future Quake) was in imminent danger of dying and taking everything with it. So the hosting company did an emergency transfer but didn't quite get it right. They've moved one of the databases back and I'm just waiting for them to rescue the one that drives the FQ message board. Nearly there....
