Title: Zenith Titan books
Post by: Proudhuff on 28 February, 2008, 02:44:04 PM
I see that Zenith books are still being advertised on Amazon at silly prices: Book 4, £140 to £175!

Now, I've been having a clear out and was going to take my Titan Books along to Prestonpandiumouimiuim III and sell 'em, including my Zeniths.

I wouldn't want to rip anyone off but by the same token I wouldn't like to be 'bumkinized'and see em on ebay the next day!

My quandry dear boarders... what would be a fair price?

As much as you can get!

I sold a set of the five for around £200 IIRC. The most I've seen one sell for on Ebay is about £80 and that was for one of the later volumes.

A fair price is whetever the market's willing to pay. If that's how much they go for, you'd be daft to flog 'em for a tenner.

hmmmm,
but would there be anyone at PP III to buy at that price? probably not and I would 'prefer to sell them than count em' as our local tile store is wont to tell us.
This being a capitalist isn't so easy, no?

Maybe you could find someone who'd be willing to do a swop with something, say artwork that might be 'fairer' than cash?

Sell Zenith? I'd rather sell my Granny!

I'd eBay the Zeniths, Huffster, and take what they make.

Otherwise, Titan reprints generally sell for maybe a fiver a book, give or take a couple of quid.

I spent about £15-£20 a volume for books 2-5 about five or six years ago.

Worth every penny.

I've got 1, 2, 3 and 5.

Don't read them as I've got the progs so I reckon I'll be Ebaying them.

Individually is best isn't it?

Bearing in mind they're almost certain to not get a reprint, you should keep them if you don't need the money. If it's about space, they're only five books! If you need the cash, bung 'em on eBay and get the most you can for them.

Well, I need to free up some funds for printing and stuff, so I'm taking the plunge and seeing what these fetch.

If you bid from here good luck fellas!

I've placed a bid (not that I expect or even intend to win). For some reason books 4 and 5 are worth more, even though book 1 is the only one contaiing a complete phase.

At the time these came out I worked in a comic shop and even I didn't get a copy of book four. Maybe they just didn't make as many?

ISTR buying book four - with two pages out of synch - in Bargain Books for about a quid, bizarrely.

Wish I'd bought 20.

Proudhuff, if you have these books and want to get shot of them, just e-bay them.  You owe it to yourself to get what you can for them, and if you sold them all at Preston Pans cheap, they'd be on e-bay before you got home.  If you know someone who wants them, then you might want to make a cheaper deal, but don't give them away to some chancer.

I bought all the Titan books at the time, with a few exceptions, but the later stuff I lost track of.  I was given book four by someone from this board, and very grateful I am too.

I have my Zenith Phase One signed by Morrison (not a pleasant experience) and by Yeowell (a very nice man, though by saying I thought it was the best thing he'd done, I ealised I was sort of saying he isn't as good anymore.  I didn't mean it like that Steve, sorry!).

Anyway, don't be a numpty, Proudhuff, e-bay!

And you can buy me a drink at Preston Pans with all your glorious profits.

If these particular Zenith books/GNs are as valuable as everyone says they are then you *must* set a reserve on them which should be a third of what they are worth or as much as is reasonable.

Dont let someone make a monkey out of you by getting them cheap.

Post by: Bolt-01 on 03 March, 2008, 10:09:45 PM
As of tonight they are all over a tenner. I put them all up for just 99p to start, but I'm happy to see them go for more.

Huff, these are the first things I've ever Ebayed myself- I'm hoping to make it out with my skin...

Bear in mind with eBay that 'searchability' is a good thing. These auctions have very brief titles, but you might fare a little better with 'Zenith phase 1 book 1 2000AD 2000 AD Morrison' or something similar.

Dave, could you do me a favour before these sell and get a big scan of Zenith's 'Z' on his shirt on the cover of book 3.

Big as you can get it (well about A4 size should do). Just the 'Z', 72 dpi, jpeg.

Cheers if you can!

Three people, though books three and five went to the same person.

The insane thing was the way the price started shooting up in the last minute of each auction.

Crazy.

Nice one Bolt, I take it Minibolt's on half-ers?

I've decided that I'll take 'em to PPandimonium try and sell em at £40 each and if they don't go pop em on ebay.

Now onto the first 40 issues of Lone Wolf and cub...

Huff- not likely, those funds have already been added to the "put money back into the account after Hi-Ex hotel bill" fund. :)

Lone-Wolf and cub- good stuff.

I see all 5 books tend to go for around £30-£50.

Does this mean that book 5 isn't at any special premium? I had got the idea it was somehow scarce and especially sought after, but I guess I'm thinking of some other Zenith imprint.

- pleased to say I've got all 5 from  when they were new. Most came from the 'damaged/remaindered' bin at Dave's Book Exchange in Brighton for £3.00 a piece, and number 5 came from a proper bookshop at cover price, around 1990.
