I also like to spread the word when gigging, although mainly I just get people telling me they like the t-shirt because they used to read it as kids, cue me desperately trying to convince them it's still great.

Krombasher...

Wow, From that angle you look abit like Russell Crowe.

I wonder if you get that comment alot from other people or if this is just the illusion of the way your face is turned and the amount of lighting in that one photo.

( Actual Russell Crowe picture below and not my own, of course.)
Title: Re: ... and proud we are of all of...
Post by: Hoagy on 26 April, 2008, 12:25:06 PM
No. I get it a lot. Its funny but living in the flatlands of a city made me put weight on.

And living in the hilly countryside makes me lose weight.

The distinctive Aussie crim look of Crowe stays with me as he puts on or takes off weight for roles though. My eyes point upwards at the side when fully open which is different to his bloodhound view.

But hey! How sad am I? Desperately wanting a photo up here, I photo-shop a t-shirt onto an existing piccy of me!:p

Yeah, it was a fantastic show. Maiden were probably as good, if not better, than the last time I saw them nearly 20 years ago, at Donnington.
An amazing achievement for such a veteran band, who receive little coverage in mainstream press, to fill a venue the size of Twickenham. A real tribute to their loyal fan base and the quality of musicianship on offer also.

When you get the reply srceen, if you click the 'Img' box above it you get  a couple of square brackets with img written in them, simply copy the address of the image between the boxes and that should do it... a cut and paste into that space might work too....

I've tried copy and paste, doesn't seem to work.

If I don't have a URL for my picture, ie if it isn't online but just stored in the 'my pictures' folder, is there any way to upload it? Others on this thread seem to have done so (or does a link automatically display as a picture? Forgive my ignorance of this sort of stuff!) I have some pics on Flickr, so if no-one can help me paste an image straight in (like Proudhuff's mighty effort) I'll have to upload them there.

A year on from the break up my ex still has my one and only 2000ad tshirt. The DR & Quinch one. Brought it at my one and only attempt at Dreddcon. Not that I've made much effort to get it back. ( He also, incidentally, has some Devlin Waugh artwork I gave him, but as it was a gift I can't express any claim on it.) Also, his little brother always steals his clothes.

They are both in pretty tragic bands, so sooner or later someone is going to spot one of them and mistake them for being a 2000ad fan. Mwahahaha, It's the dangerous legacy of dating me.

Without wishing to derail this tread did you also notice that Moss named one of his 'children' Zenith. Given the number of comic references in this show (they had a Buddy Baddley doll on Roy's desk a while back) I took this as a 2000ad reference... I might be reading too much into these things!

That one I did notice and I wondered the same. I forget the name of the second child though, but it was very silly too.

Here's an image I just came across of me sporting the classic fist of Dredd at last year's Green Man Festival in Brecon while also eating paella. Also present at that weekend was my Savage "laugh this off, Twinkletoes", though no images capture its awesomeness.

This year I'll be aiming to sport an inappropriately violent comic T-shirt in every shot of the filthy hippy folk-fest in question.

On the scale of crimes against nature it's hardly up there with fly tipping, deforestation and toxic waste dumping though is it? I often take a banana when hiking and I've always considered the peel to be perfectly biodegradable. I don't just chuck it willy nilly, I usually bury it or stick it under a large rock, or into a big old thorny bush.

Go on, make me feel bad now by explaining why this is a bad thing!

Dandon't: apparently they take up to two years to degrade, and there are 1000 of them lying on Ben Nevis.

Unless its due to the cold up there, a banana peel shouldn't take more than a month to decompose. Orange peel on the other hand can take 6 times that long.

They don't degrade thanks to the bloody cold, which my digits will testify to.

So they take time to degrade, but what harm do they do? Do they uproot trees? Instil a melancholic jealousy in the sheep for exotic fruit? Or has some hiker struggled all the way to the near-summit only to skid all the way back down cartoon-style on a discarded banana skin?

If the only problem is that they look unsightly, I don't feel so bad by burying or stashing mine away from sight.

Don't know about GB, but seeing as we shared the same OS, its probably the same as Ireland.  Most of the triangulation network  was set up in the 1830's, while the trig points themselves date mainly to the resurveys of the 1930's and 40's.  Over here they're usually concrete rather than stone.

Here's me (plus 2000ad shirt) camping on Anglesey at the weekend. Nine adults and two kids in all. It was rather chilly at night, (okay, frikkin freezing!) and we were pitched right next to the kiddies play area (lots of fun at 8am), but a good time was had by all.

Here we are on the net unfriendly Broads.
First pic is of Sam and me at Potter Heigham and due to the tides, moon, wind, blah, blah, blah....we couldn't go any further, so we turned back at that bridge. Obviously I have declared the Hi-Ex Helltrekker top as an official item  ;)
By the way one of the local shops had an amazing array of
Golliwogs
, we thought that we had gone back in time

Sam has taken to turning his head in many a photo as of late, that's another of his quirks  ::)

Next up is a pic us both outside a pub where we had a lovely meal, in the village of South Walsham. Notice the weather, Carolyn had her umbrella, Sam his waterproof but all I needed to keep dry was my trusty yellow duster (as Caz calls it), bloody wimps!

As promised a picture of a Dredd T-shirt on the steps of No 10.

It had to Colin's top as the art is superb and the words are so apt  ;)

We had to wait a few minutes as a live broadcast was happening at about 13:30 ish and we couldn't be in shot. I tell you it was a right old bugger trying to stop Sam squealing and making a noise.
Also I couldn't fault any of the officers on duty, they were all brilliant with Sam and let him do his weird stuff.

The official 40th Birthday Portrait. The burnt out Brighton pier juxtaposes the fit and virile specimen in the foregrounds.

£3.99 Play.com t-shirt - best one in a while although it does grate that the logo and image come from different eras. Still I won't let it get me down like these migrants eating pets while getting lotto funding to deface pictures of Margaret Thatcher using otters' blood and childrens' tears...

Spot the Scotsman! I bet everyone else had coats on, it looks bloody cold. Great Dredd shirt though sir.

Before the West Pier got torched (twice!) you used to get a fantastic display of formation flying from the vast hordes of starlings that lived in it. Brilliant to watch from beachfront pub whilst half cut, almost hypnotic. Did you get a chance to check out Dave's Comics while you were there?

And, HAPPY 40TH!

You are correct Commando I was quite at home with the many pubs, ice cream on the pier (not a euphamism) and Sky Sports. Yes there were leather trousers and elaborate moustaches sighted but just as many screeching hen nights and fat ladies with tattoos.

From my trip to the future Undercity...

Top of the Rock, Central Park in the background...

Brooklyn Brigde and Downtown Manhatten...

And me sticking it to the man; Dredd would not approve of my actions, but would approve the sign no doubt!

That last one was taken near Brooklyn Heights which is lovely!

Yesterday the family and friends went to Mote Park in the town for a picnic and I decided to wear a 2000AD top but which one........

In the end I decided to go for a one with an alternate meaning in the minds of the filthy adults and here I am wearing it, while rowing all the children around on the lake.

Not an official T-shirt but might as well be  ;)

Up London yesterday we bumped into a face from the telly and I thought, let's get a pic of Sam with him, especially as he was wearing one of his new tops. Due to the flash, Sam looks like a ghost, which Ricky and myself did have a laugh about especially as he said he was quite tanned, as he had just come back from America. I must admit he was quite charming and wasn't put out with our intrusion on his time!

P.S. Sam does like to pull faces during many a photo, as you can see. Thank God for digital!

Co-incidentally, I was just listening to Anthrax's 'Among The Living' (the album with their Dredd-centric track 'I Am The Law' on it) when I saw that post.  I really want to get an Anthrax shirt with Death on (the Dredd ones seem to be more reaily available)

That is indeed the very temple (Karnak) in the film.

If anybody has ever fancied visiting the temples of the Nile, Valley of the Kings etc, now (well after August 'cos it's just too hot then) is the time to go - tourist numbers are down 90% since the revolution, which means not only are they desperate for the visitors, but these places are really quiet - I was trying to imagine them with 10 times as many visitors and that would be horrendous - lovely and peaceful when we were there. I didn't hear a single American voice the whole week! It does mean however that the ultra-persistent tat-sellers are even more reluctant to let you go without buying something. I can't speak for Cairo or the Red Sea resorts, I just did a Nile cruise Luxor-Aswan.
