Title: Welcome to the new forum!
Post by: Cyber-Matt on 24 June, 2008, 03:42:45 PM
BORAG THUNGG, EARTHLETS!

Welcome to 2000adonline.com, the official website of the Galaxy's Greatest Comic. I am The Mighty Tharg, Betelgeusian editor, and I recommend that you regularly stop by here for all the info you could possible ever need pertaining to 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine.

Following a server interface/wormhole event, alas the earlier incarnation of this website is in several pieces beneath Mek-Quake's tracks. But we're in the process of rebuilding it, constructing over time a new and even more zarjaz site. So keep visiting, Terrans - W3B-bot.2 and PYE-01 are working double shifts to get it up and running, but things will settle down soon. Florix grabundae for your patience, and apologies for any inconvenience.

Thrill-power will prevail!

SPLUNDIG VUR THRIGG!

Its definately an interesting change.  Did kind of like the old board aesthetic, but times change and maybe we should all move on.  Smileys?  Now no one can pretend that something has been lost in translation.....  ;)

[quote="w3Hey! It looks like everywhere else! very swish! Slight issue here though - and I admit it may be to do with the fact that my monitor blew up, so now I'm using a massive old one - but the left half of the screen is missing and I can't make it come back. This makes it very difficult to see what I'm doing, or even if I'm posting in the right bit, or posting at all. Help!Oh, and if it hadn't been for facebork, I wouldn't even have noticed the board was back... Now to attempt to actually post... HOpe there are no smelling pisstakes where I can't see them! x

I'm sure we'll all get used to in soon though.

One question, how can I get all postings e-mailed like I could before? I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks

This new forum is a big improvement over the old one. This is what I call a forum. The old one was a bit basic.

ahh thats better, earlier in the week i couldnt read some of the stuff but the blue boxes work better.

I hope i figure it out quickly, i think i always hung out on 2000adonline forum rather than others because it was very very easy at a glance with no clicks to see what was up & running thread wise. If it takes more than 2 seconds to navigate the work-ethic guilt kicks in and i wander off & do something less fun.

Heyo luvverly people

I wasn't too sure about this at first. Kinda sorta got used to the old message board, and knowing instantly who'd be posting 'cos of their little icons.

Have to say, I do be liking this lotsly of a muchness now.

Obviously a lot of work has gone into this. So a huuuge pat on the back to all involved.

Now, now Mr Logan I bet you want the old SA80 as well. We have to move with the times. I mean just look at all the lovely things the new site can do.
I love all the extras but the main thing for me is the View New Posts bit as now I don't have to fart about looking for stuff.

I really like the new forum look and all the extras, still working out what all I can now do in posts.

I kinda miss the old forum's immediacy and ease of use; still any problems I'm having are really down to my own lack of prowess when it comes to computers and the internet.

I like the new forums so far - a lot closer to what I'm used to elsewhere.

My only critcism is the background colour. Black text on the blue doesn't stand out terribly well. I'd much prefer a white background, or at least a much paler shade of the blue.

Still getting used the changes myself. Admittedly the new board is more in line with most other boards these days in both appearence and interface. My only gripe is that some of the many avaliable options seem a bit unnecessary but that could just be something i'll adjust to.

I love the look though using the new board will take some getting used to: Is there a way of switching off the categories so I can just seee the latest postings from any category in order of latest posting on the same page? It doesn't seem to give me that option on the control panel. It looks like it's an attempt to kerb casual off-topic posting and keep everything firmly inside pre-determined legitimate categories.

I'm still finding the board mucher harder to use than the old board.  Too disparate (maybe not the right spelling) for me and certainly doesn't have the 'easy to view or use'-ability as the old board (I can't spell immediacy, but that's what I mean).

It's certainly stopped me visiting as much as I used to.

I have to agree. I'm making an effort, and the "view new posts" thing is a help, I much preferred the old board, which is weird because I'm quite happy using boards based on a similar template to this elsewhere on teh interwebs.

Come on fellas. Suck it in.

It Isn't the board that makes the site its the people.

I remember being on that stage where Jim C is now. "giving it a go..." but I'm as addicted to the place already.

I know that old board was easy gossip grab and this one can be aswell but if we don't get up to date new boarders won't come and advertisers get very nervous about that most of all. Anytway As much as you're all into the auld boarde Newbies have no idea how to get to speak to all of you funtastic comic weilders.

Take it easy and don't expect too much. It'll be a lot better when the progs are up and the tuck shops open!

As well as a new skin option that will be developed at some point, there's also going to be something else. On the new site under news there's going to be a forum watch section which will show you all the latest topics and allow you to reply straight from there. Not sure this will be up and running straight away but it's certainly going to be there at some point.

The board itself was installed by Julian Hall plus others at Rebellion. My main contribution was adding to their headaches by transferring the old usernames and messages. As some of you may remember from a few weeks ago, the old board was particularly flaky on the new server -- I think that the message IDs didn't transfer exactly, so the time was ripe for installing a new one rather than rewriting mine.

yipes !  I miss the old kooms skree page. Also now when boarders e-mail you, it comes through  Mr web-Bots ( excuse spelling ) e-mail so the only way to reply ( i assume ) is to find the boarders name and send-mail, I just trawled through 4000 + boarders names all beinging with the same letter of the alphabet so i could reply... whereas i could have just clicked 'new posts' as they'd posted recently, but i wasnt to know that.
Now this system protects privacy yes, but you know my e-mail is in the local paper and all over the web, so i don't care, I have my own methods of dealing with stalkers & freakoids. couldnt the privacy be optional? or is it? it was much easier on the ancient olde board.

am i just being thick ? I am quite old & fatigued, forgive me.

Hi all. My name is Jack but just call me barrettj. I am 14 and I live in Rochdale, near Manchester. To be honest I'm not a big 2000AD fan. My dad is a big fan and has been reading sine about prog 220. He has almost all progs since and still collects them to this date. He gets our local newsagents to hold the copies and collects 4 every month. He also has many specials and classics and things.

I recently was very bored and found a prog (somewhere near 1990, I was delited that it had all new story's in it) and read the next 6 or 7 progs or so. I got really into the story's, especially Judge Dredd and Nikolai Dante. Now I think I'm gonna carry on reading future progs and I have about 1350 comics that are in my dads draw to get through  :D . My dad recomended the 2000AD Classic sereis to read. I read a few storys already including one where Alpha dies and one where Mean Machine is experimented on by aliens. Oh, I've also read two Judge Dredd/Batman graphic novels, Judgement on Gotham and Vendetta in Gotham.

Well, nice to meet everyone. And keep the brilliant comics coming Tharg.

Welcome aboard new squaxx. You take it slow with the progs, don't overdo it.

My eldest started reading at 12, and if he gets to the envelope before I do it's not pretty!

I be good and damn glad I've discovered 2000AD!(Cheap and action packed FTW)

I've read a bunch of Progs featuring the ABC warriors in the 1520 area and was blown away by the story but Im desperate to know what happens next! Which issues did the next part take place in because the few issues after book one finished had no sign of the next installment which was a downer. I was also intrigued by the Origins storyline but thankfully discovered that there's an origins collection avalible. Anyway back to the point I was wondering if anybody could tell me which prog the ABC warriors storyline picked up on again and Ill get to eBay and get buying right away!

Thanks in advance.
