Remember all that talk when IDW published the JD vs. Mars attacks variant cover? People thinking it was a comic not just a cover. Well it would appear that now it will be.

Regardless of whether this is a good idea or not it all equals more publicity for Dredd state-side so from that angle at least must be a good thing!
That could be a dream team in the right hands, just depends on who's at the helm
Those heads look ripe for some butting.
I know Mean's been exhausted in 2000AD, but he'd fit pretty well in an IDW Dredd strip.
I like the sound of that!
They must've read the thread ;)
Sounds cool.
More Greg Staples covers?
Get Al Ewing in for this one, I say.
I'll only buy it if Pingu is on the cover
Greg's just confirmed he's doing the other covers. :)
Hasn't John McCrea been doing the regular Mars Attacks series? Get him onboard.
This is going to be great! As long as its got a good creative team behind it...
Topps! Looking forward to this!

This is such a no-brainer - let's hope the IDW folks follow SuperSurfer's lead on this one.
I'll accumulate the good ideas into one eminently purchasable package:
Mars Attacks Judge Dredd
W: Al Ewing
A: John McCrea
C: Greg Staples
Your move IDW.

Yeah that could make it work.
Great cover art....
If Stevie were IDW he wouldn't be squandering Al Ewing on
Dredd/Mars Attacks.
QuoteThey will reprint old Rocky And Bullwinkle, as well as creating new comics, with Mr Peabody and Sherman to follow.

^^ this.
Okay my initial cynicism about this has transformed now that team has been announced and I think that creative team could make this work. So I'm now excited about this.
Oh I'm so fickle!
Time for some excitement ;)

Are you still being bothered by messerschmitts round your way CF? Or have you just had enough of robins attacking the gold tops?
I like the way he's wearing his brains like an 'fro.
Any minute now some pedant is going to point out that earth in the background doesn't reflect a JD's era America...
That subscribers cover is great.
Really, a good poster doesn't make a good comic.
Since I've been cured of being a Dredd completist I think I'd give this a miss.

Normally I'd agree with that sentiment, if not for the pedigree of the talent working on this.
Latest info on this four part mini series!
Subscribers will be able to buy the Loston Wallace variants, that when placed next to each other make one giant image!
is there a date for this?

The Earth in the background doesn't match the era that JD is set in.
Issue 3 cover has been revealed by Greg!

I get the feeling he is enjoying these :D

That top cover is interesting as its reversed, due to the eagle but it can't be, due to the signature!

It's a mind fuck, isn't it? I've come to the conclusion that Staples is illustrating the moment you see all the time in horror films, where a character is raking around in a bathroom cabinet then shuts it to reveal (in the mirror) that the bad guy has been standing behind them all along.
Judging by those grey whiskers, Dredd was about to have a shave.
Jumping Jesus those covers are brilliant! :o
See how the McCarthy one accentuates the visor flashes (can't think of a better term, but you all know what I mean) in gold and then they flow down into the cheek fold. Beautiful.

That it is.
I'm actually tempted to wait for the collected edition of this, which will likely (
or should likely) feature a cover collection.
Out next week.
Unavoidably tempted to pick it up as floppies.
Looking forward to this- should be great fun.
Does anyone know if this will definitely be released as a trade at some point?
Preview pages on CBR - very promising:

Just checked out what the comicfolio is ::)
it's a sign! its out on my birdday!

LP - don't bother. I'm sure you can wait for the TPB to come out. Sure, it won't be until next year and yeah folks will be talking about it on the forum but you can wait? You can maintain that patience for the next 9 months? ;)
I know I can't.
Floppies first and then if I think it is worth it I will pick up the TPB when its out and sell the floppies on ebay.

There was no doubt I'd fold like a soggy sandwich Recrewt; have already pre-ordered my cover of choice.
And judging by the preview Greg posted, this doesn't look like just an amusing aside of a story, but an essential purchase for any Dredd Head.
Never bet against Ewing delivering the goods.
They had me at 'Ewing and McCrea', but those preview pages look even more fab than the creative team alone suggests. Perfectly judged tone so far. Oi, greenbonce, stick this in yer Meg!

seconded!!
Yup, this has gone from WTF to Hmmm Interesting to I want this now!
I like to do my bit to support IDW's Dredd efforts. I got the first TPB for the main IDW Dredd but can't bring myself to buy the Dredd Classics with those ridiculous page borders, so now that Year One has wrapped up I am definitely ready for this.
I don't understand - I thought the IDW Dredd wasn't aimed at us? With that creative team there's no way I'm not buying this, and the preview is better than Dredds I've seen in the prog.
I had no interest in this at all - til i saw those preview pages.
HAVE TO BUY NOW!
It does look, and read like a fun Dredd strip. How many issues is this scheduled to run for?

Four issues, as far as I know.
Cheers, dweezil2.
Now to order me one of these.....
Did anyone manage to grab one of these on the release date last Wednesday. It's very quiet on the web for reviews and my local comic shop had none in with everything else!
Didn't realise they'd released it! Just grabbed a copy off Ebay for 2.75
Cheers for the heads up! ;)
Nope, OK Comics told me there was a shipping delay, US readers got it, we didn't.
They are expecting it in Wednesday 18th.
Yeah my shop has it on their Diamond shipping list for next week not this.
Glad to see everything is as normal then ::)
I got mine day of!
You show-off blackmocco, Surely you have some Dredd Project work to do...
None arrived in the Emerald Isle either, though it is available on Comixology if you cant wait.
