It's coming up to that most special time of the year again, so why not meet up with like minded folk, buy 2000 AD stuff and then go for a few pints and some grub, in that big city of London.
This time it's Saturday 19th December
If you don't know the drills, it's very easy. We all meet up at Forbidden Planet on Shaftesbury Avenue between 12:00 - 13:00 and then wander down Neal Street (opposite the shop) and into The Crown and Anchor, which is on the left and is a corner building.
Last time we did a short pub crawl that took in some pubs with very loose connections to 2000 AD!
There is no obligation to stay to the end, or even make it in time for the shop. If you want to come along then any time will do. All are welcome, so don't be shy, just say hello and join in.
We do have a facebook page, (link below) which you can join, if you like to keep up with things but we do post on here during the day, if we remember ;)
2000 AD Southern Contingent Gathering (https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/493524564052158/)
As always, new faces are more than welcome, as it's always good to put a face to a name and have a laugh about everything over a pint or two.
Double up with the new Star Wars movie and you;ll have a cracking day out...
Good luck chaps hope you hit double figures :D
Missed the summer one, so definately coming to this.
Already looking forward to tackling the trains - London a week before Christmas? What could go wrong...?
We'll be there. Due to see the Force Awakens the day after, so not sure if it'd be a good idea to see it on the Saturday too...
This gathering is a few days after a big work deadline for me – so looking forward to it.
There's a Christmas Special signing at Forbidden Planet the week before.

Tickets available?
I went to the website here (http://"https://forbiddenplanet.com/events/2015/12/12/2000ad-christmas-special-event/") but saw nothing about tickets. I know in the past signing I went to, it was just a matter of going in.
But anyway, either date is fine with me. Whatever you guys decide. (I probably won't pay for tickets to sign, though, although I'd happily buy a hard copy of the Christmas Prog for the privelege. Heh.)
DATE CHANGE
NOW THE
12TH DECEMBER
This is due to the signing the week before. The facebook group date has been changed and people notified. I'll pm all who have replied in here just to confirm. It'll be doubling up but it's better to be safe, than sorry!
Nice one. See you folks there.
I'll be there!
We'll both be there too!
See you there
Leaving in a bit - as she posted to facebook, Rachael is at a charity event today so won't be able to make it :-(
Sorry i couldn't make it. My youngest "sort of grandson" stayed last night and it's my works dinner tonight so it just wasn't to be.
Have fun my fellow Southers.
Another fun day :D
Travelled up on the train with a droid, grabbed some sustenance and went into the bowels of Forbidden Planet for the well attended signing. At the end a sixth droid turned up and a few of us coerced him into also signing the Prog.
Later on in the pub, the draw for the signed America book took place, with an extra two names added. It was filmed and that will go online soon but the winner was.........

No probs.
Was a good laugh. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next gathering in Feb.
Just for Proudhuff ;)
My day started after 3 hours sleep and as I waited for the train, I bumped into one of the droids and so we traveled up together. Obviously we chatted about loads of stuff and it was rather enjoyable. Once we arrived at Forbidden Planet he had to go into the bowels and start signing stuff and so I wandered about as the contingent gathered.
I grabbed a McDonald's with Simon Palmer and while there witnessed about 50 semi naked men run past us, for charity! Only a few moments later a Scimitar Recce tank drove past :o London, eh!
We wandered back up the road for the signing and joined the queue and then chatted with everyone from the contingent. The signing was enjoyable, as always but we also saw a droid hiding in the shadows, so we got Mr Willsher to sign the Christmas Prog as well.
We then all wandered along the road to the pub but some of the lads had beaten us to it and so the tables had been procured already for us to sit around
Soon after we did the draw for the signed America book and the winner of it is shown in this video taken inside the pub AND THE WINNER IS..... (https://www.facebook.com/john.burdis/videos/10208390472903751/)
Shortly after that the fire alarm went off and after sitting there for a good five minutes we were all told to drink outside, just to be safe and being the South, it was a rather pleasant afternoon, so we all did as we were told.
A bit later on I had to scoot off, as I had work to go to. Long story short, I was off the next Saturday and that was originally the date, until we saw the Signing event and changed it but I couldn't get the time off.
And finally, the photos!
First up, The Droids

I would put the names to everyone but I think everyone is known by now ;)
Just a heads up, the next gathering will be at LSCC on the Saturday night at the Fox on the 20th of February. I'll do a post soon'ish!
Bugger, I didn't have to scroll the images when I kept previewing them, just to make sure they uploaded.
That's some great photoshopping CF! ;)
Do you need to have these to be a Droid:

Great to see DUNK!'s limp wrist getting the support it needs.
The Norts are going to up their game numbers wise, (obviously the quality's better)
ah, there's poor Dunk with his broken arm - at last he's beer-ambidextrous!
