As I am one of few not reading Philip K. Dick's short stories. I am glad there is a TV series on C4 tonight so I can watch with open mind.
Telepathy in Sci-fi is a well worn trope, Philip K. Dick mined the concept pretty well himself, but there was enough of an emotional hook in this the first episode to maintain interest.
Excellent performances and the whole thing looked visually superb!
Definitely tuning in for Episode 2!
I liked it, but why are the costumers of sci-fi dramas all convinced hats are due a comeback?
I liked the cars

It was like watching
The Sweeney.
Ford Cortinas are one thing, but are we really supposed to believe there will be Scottish people* in the future? We'll have advanced beyond that kind of thing.
* It would be interesting to know whether the show uses ADR to bland out the accents of the leads for international resale. Trainspotting was subtitled in US cinemas.
I enjoyed it for what it was. Dick's story used as inspiration and a few key points. The rest is completely altered.
Still it wasn't terrible and will hopefully get better as the series progresses.

That's pretty much like every Dick adaptation to be fair.
Funny as a Dickhead  I'm in two minds...
Its great these are getting out there and the stories are fine, but I was totally by the distracted 70s set dressing and Brazil/Bladerunner vibe...
The Hood Maker
As watch it 2nd time, so I understand, in the world where there is mutant telepaths, which can read people minds, and police been use it to read people mind for crimes.
Then there is
people wears hood to block out the mind reading, this cop and telepath lady look for it, at end they found Hood Maker, which developed that cop who can block telepaths without needing the hood. The telepath people came and killing / burning the hoods cos they want to use their powers?
Is that right?
That's pretty much it. The fear is the teeps will take control.
Second episode was good. Not as good as the first, but still some darn good TV.
Interesting fact!
Were you aware that Michael Van Kesteren, of this forum fame (and also he did some nifty design work on the guns in some film or other... Dredd was it?) did a lot of the design work in at least four of these episodes?
Saw the first episode the other day - liked the tone of it and the grim n' gritty designwork was really original and quite, quite grand (CHEERS MVK!)
Maaan. The second one was a good set-up, nice designs again and BENEDICT WONG but the ending was a real kick in the teeth
going for vague bullshit rather than what the original had which was, I dunno, an actual ending. If you're going to adapt an eleven-pager into an hour why change it?!
Hope that was a blip and they don't carry on "smartly subverting" the original twists of all the stories by just discarding them entirely...
