TO THE DEATH WINNER TAKES ALL... or gets a place in the semi-finals whatever. Leave the name of the character you like most in a reply to this thread and I'll count up and call the winner early in the morning Thursday 24th September.

Hammer versus Gun
Nikolai Dante
Wulf Sternhammer puts der sock in Dante's big mouth, da?
Let sanity prevail and vote Dante, people. I don't really think either of these guys is in the top 4 2000AD characters, but Dante surely has more of a claim than Wulf.
Wulf was probably the best side kick in 2000AD. His death was a massive shock which sent the Strontium Dog strip in a different direction, for a while anyway.
But he is a supporting character.
So my vote has to go to Dante.
Nikolai Dante.
Sadly.
Dante.
Tough call.
Tough call, but I'll note that apart from that one time he went bald, Wulf only rocked the one hairstyle - Dante has managed to make two different looks works equally well, and if that doesn't say 'character' in comcis, then what does?

Arh but Wulf was rocking a hipster beard long before most hipsters were even born. So he has that going for him... or against him...
Honour be damned, I'm going with Dante.
My inner ten year old compels me to vote for WULF, but it was close.
SBT
Have really come to like WULF of late.
Wulf Sternhammer
Howly McWarhammer for me.
Wulf was a great foil for Johnny, but as he's a leading man my vote has to go to Dante.
Dante
Not straight forward this one and could stil go either way. So get your votes in today as I'll be closing this one first thing in the morning.
I love Wulf - truly - but this one has to go to Dante, the more nuanced and rounded character.
Dante...
VOTING CLOSED
Well, well, well. When these two meet in Round 2 Wulf took first place in the Group format getting 10 votes to Dante's 8. Poor old Hammerstein (comments on spelling welcome!) lost out there. Different formats however and here in a straight head to head the result was utterly turned on its head. Seemed like it was close but that was a little deceptive as some early votes for Wulf and a cluster in the middle of the head to head seem to have hidden the fact that when push comes to shove Wulf is always the second man and our leading star is
Nikolai Dante
who goes through to the semis.
Worf Hammerstern ver robbed!

Nope he got hammered, too much ale
If this contest has shown me anything it's just how beloved Wulf is. He was dead before I started reading (Durham Red is the partner for my first SD story) so for me, he's always been a figure from the 'past' of the series. If you were along for the ride though, he clearly became a favourite.
