Deary me. I do feel sorry for all non-gamecube owners out there. Especially those of you with all the "It looks shite with its cartoony graphics" talk.
And Ive not even finished Metroid yet!
-Gannondorf the mighty. (hexen)
I must say I'm rather disappointed. From the subject title, I thought this was going to be a Terrahawks thread.
Hexen,
Is it worth getting a cube for Metroid and Zelda?
I've been toying with the idea for a while and just missed out on the great Argos offer that was going recently. Still fancy one though, but need some encouragement.
WoD.
Its can be anything you want it to Wils.
GOD, IM SO FED UP PRESSING CAPS-LOCK INSTEAD OF SHIFT.
I LOVED terrahawks.
Hmmm. Metroid AND Zelda you say?
Metroid has split a lot of people with its style of play. There seems to be a lot of people who cant understand that its not a first person shooter, rather a first person adventure/platformer/shooter thingy. It is exactly like the old metroid games but with rediculously good graphics.
My advice would be to play Metroid first. Give the first ten-twenty minutes a blast and see how you like it.
As for Zelda...well, its zelda.
Well, alright then Wils. Just for you...
Pwoar! Now *that's* a foxy chick. :)
>Deary me. I do feel sorry for all non-gamecube owners out there.
Yeah, tell me about it. I'm so gutted I can't decide whether to drown my sorrows with a game of Halo or Vice City... :)
I hope thats on the PC, Mk13. Ive got only harsh words for Xbox owners...:)
Got Metroid Prime last week and I am very impressed even though it does seem to be the world's first "text 'em up" there's that much scanning to do.
Got Zelda: Wind Waker last night and played for about an hour and it is absolutely lovely. The animation is absoultely superb. I even got the special edition with Ocarina of Time playable on the Gamecube - which is nice.
Now if only I could convince my wife that there is a valid reason for owning EVERY console I could enjoy HALO and GTA as well.
Sod that gay elf shite. Splinter Cell, The Getaway and Pro Evolution Soccer 2 will see my through this bank holiday weekend.
You have my sympathies Matt...:o)
...well if you enjoy playing on a kiddies console :)
Pah! Its all in the colours...
TWO kiddies consoles actually...Ill be linking my gameboy advance up when I get home! Tee-hee!
Being deeply tragic, I have just bought a PS2 todya just to play GTA and Pro Evolution Soccer. I now have all three consoles and no life. A Gamecube is well worth it for Zelda, Star Fox, Rougue Squadron, Metroid Prime and Mario. But nowt else. For everything else there's the XBox or PC.
As for justifying it to a spouse: I simply point out her monthly expenditure on clothes and shoes!
Two words EDX: Monkey Ball :o)
The nintendo exclusive stable was strong enough to convince me, and I own a fair few cross-platform titles too. Mario and zelda are now too integral to my game playing that I just couldnt do without.
Im hearing that the Mario 64 sequel-proper, Mario 128, is coming soon. Yay!
Is mokey ball any good? Seems awful gimmicky to me?
Super Monkey Ball does exactly what it says on the can.
There's a monkey.
In a ball.
And it's super.
And I'm not just saying that because of all of the Monkey In A Hat stuff either.
Super Monkey Ball is great and I'd play that above Rogue Leader any day (which sure was purty an' all but the difficulty of the missions seems entirely random and hence I found it utterly infuriating)
I thought PIKMIN and LUIGI's MANSION were pretty good fun as well - a commendable step away from the usual genres.
Anyway, who cares if it's for kids; NINTENDO still make great games. Playing ZELDA last night made me realise that photorealism is not the way to go for *EVERY* game.
BUt I still wish I had all 3 consoles under the telly...
While you guys are busy chasing chickens, earning rupees, fishing and just generally enjoying being a gay elf-come-gnome, I'm gonna nick a few cars, kill a few cops and brutally bludgeon a couple of hookers to death with a baseball bat. Oh and I might have a go on GTA as well ;)
"I've been toying with the idea for a while and just missed out on the great Argos offer that was going recently. Still fancy one though, but need some encouragement"
Do it. Get a second hand one for about ?75.00.
Yes oh yes.
My my Link, what a large chopper you've got there...
"nick a few cars, kill a few cops and brutally bludgeon a couple of hookers to death with a baseball bat"
Now to me that's not what enjoying yourself is about. It's all a bit underhand and violent. I may be mellowing in my old age, but can't people see that this kind of thing, even with it's 18 rating, has the biggest appeal, and no doubt the biggest sales, with children. And this can't be a good thing to grow up doing.
I could bang on about this forever, ut I won't.

The Trout pops up very late to say:
I won a Terrahawks DVD (generously donated by Logan) in the Shedcon:1 raffle and I can honestly say it's a children's TV programme that's stood the test of time.
It was never actually good, but it's hugely entertaining. Chuffing hilarious, in fact.
Class.

Terrahawks always started with the hero guy playing some computer game and being interrupted, didn't it?
Hands up who used to pretend to be playing it at the time?
Just me then...
