hail star troopers!
are there any decent starlord websites around?
i'm researching some starlord stuff for a future issue of accent uk's red eye, and once i've finished the action site, i might set my sites on a starlord one.
would anybody be interested in such a thing? any old star troopers out there still waiting for the invasion of the int.stell.fed.?
laser specialists, tank commanders, robot regiments, pilots, time wardens and skate board strike squads(!) stand by, and watch the stars!!!
Dunno if there's a dedicated Star Lord site or not, but this site's profile section includes all 22 Star Lord issues...

yep, spotted that already and been plundering info, cheers oddboy.
david bishop's tpo had some useful stuff, and i got an e-mail from him a while ago with a few extra facts and figures.
rufus dayglo has been helping me out with original art and stuff.
kelvin gosnell, the editor, is unreachable, but i might try to get in touch with a few of the creators....any ideas from anybody on how i could do this would be grand.
Link: this would be a link if i had a site at the end of
Have the beginnings of one on my hard drive for, oh, at least a year now.
My favourite piece of comic art is the Ro-Busters 9/11-ish spread (if you've read it, you must remember the fantastic Ian Kennnedy art).

PS Should have a number of cheap Starlords at the Superhero Store very soon

interesting...I read about this in TPO. Was Planet of the Damned any good? How were the first Strontium Dog stories?
Planet of the Damned was alright. I much preferred Mind Wars & Timequake - MW had some gorgeous Jesus Redondo artwork.
The early Stront stuff is a bit hit & miss, IMO. It's essential reading for SD fans, but it isn't anywhere near as good as the strip would go on to be. It's worth checking out if you've got an interest in the series - and also to see Ian Gibson's version of Johnny Alpha and co.!
The other great thing about Starlord is the quality of paper it was printed on. My copies look almost as good as the day they were printed, and it really shows off the great artwork they were printing.
i've got the complete set of starlord, plus the hard to find summer special, but have just been seriously outbid on ebay for the first two annuals.
i'm not paying over 8 quid for each of them....
i've knocked up a dummy splash page, and i'm in the middle of a dummy contents page, but it looks like the action site at the moment.
got an idea or two to make it a bit different though
i liked the early stronts, a bit basic in places, and wasn't keen on brendan mccarthy's version, but ian gibson did a fair turn. ro-busters was corny but good, and that ian kennedy page was excellent, as was dave gibbons work.
planet of the damned was a bit crap, not mills at his best, mind wars was good, timequake was like bill savage does dr who, there were some entertaining future shock styled one offs, can't remember holocaust, but the hero was a rip off of clint in magnum force that they never tried to disguise on the cover of issue 14, see link above for details
the high concept (for the time) was entertaining, as were the quizzes for each unit of star trooper.
maybe i will carry on with this project
trooper moose
also a laser specialist
starlord
very good comic.
as good as 2000ad. in many ways ahead of its time.
in terms of quality and price.
i think if it had launched before 2000ad it may have been the stronger of the 2.same market segment which likely was its downfall.
but we became stronger for its merger.starlord was an excellent publication.
DD feels the ebay calling. the call is strong but the wifes nagging is stronger. must resist.
Starlord WAS stronger than 2000AD. It sold more at the time of merger but, due to the higher quality, also cost more, so go for the bucks over the reader.
I thought Planet of the Damned was excellent. Remember the girl drowing on the apple or the man being roasted alive. Fantastic!
Wouldn't worry too much about the annuals though. Disappointing stuff.
i have the annauls.
i had all the starlords!
lets not bring that up about my mother and what happened to them.
starlord a bloody brillant comic.
that link above is now active. i've dummied up a splash and contents page. i'll do a bit more soon.
let me know what you think.
corel photopaint rules.
annuals...avoided. cheers.

not working there sir
let us know when you get it up and running.
i like it.
soon as your ready let us know.
Never read any of Starlord, but it looks very similar to 2000ad, which can't be a bad thing. The site looks good so far. I won't mind checking it out once it's fully up and running.
don't forget you can see the full 'timequake' here ....
Link: 'Timequake' full strip
thanks for the positive response so far everyone. guess i'd better make a start on it for real then.....
i'll probably post a few links, including the timequake one and i guess solar wind is a bit of a must.
now to rack my brains for some content that's not just a rip off of the action site......which, on reflection, might not be a bad idea.
perhaps starlord should say a bit more than blah blah blah whilst i'm at it.
Let me know if you need a hand.
The comic I publish was actually named as a tribute to Starlord.
Link: STARSCAPE Beyond your dreams!
yep, could need a hand along the way with character profiles, story breakdowns and stuff...plus scanning, never forget scanning.
i've written a suitably pompous introduction from Alvin Starlord. that must've been his first name...he looks so much like him.
anybody else think starlord was based on alvin stardust?
just a bit of web fu practice...
bolditalic
i'll try again
take 3
yay...the fu is strong in this one.....!!
