Title: Caballistics and the "real" world
Post by: Tiplodocus on 04 September, 2004, 06:58:01 AM
One of the things I like about Cab. Inc is the fact that it is pretending that the events of Doctor Who (opening story) and Quatermass (current story) were real in the Caballistics universe.

So can anyone* tell me, is it just classic old British TV and films that are real in this world or are there any american shows/films in there too?

*Not Mister Rennie or Dom - that would be too easy.

Goes to dig out prog.

i'd like to see Dr Phibes

Good call, or at least some sort of grisly murder spree with lots of art-deco panel borders and automata resembling Frank Sidebottom.

(There'd have to be an Inspector Pike who gets annoyed at being called Trout, too, in a genius post-modern twist on the film that gets extra meta-comics points for annoying a certain boarder. Or something.)

Can't think of any Yank films or shows offhand. Might be a fun page for this site to have an annotated guide to all of Cab's references.

Well, yeah, all the texts bar Hannahs are from real world people who have written books on Horror films, that's your Alan Barnes and Marcus Hearne, your Kim Newman, and someone I forget maybe?

"Might be a fun page for this site to have an annotated guide to all of Cab's references."

...and oddly enough, along with the Rogue timeline I'm (slowly) working on, I've been fiddling about with just this idea for a wee while.

If there's any interest, I'd be happy to pull together what I've got so far & post it here.
