Title: Daily Pulse
Post by: Will I. Cooling on 11 September, 2004, 12:30:09 AM
So guys what did you think?

You can read my thoughts at insidepulses with m new weeklu Daily Pulse column...I did one last week about the RNC (Days 1-3) if anyone's interested.

Btw, a warning. There's a fair few typos  due to the fact that I was writing at 2/4 in the morning. It also explains why the column isn't quite as good as I would've wanted...you should read the RNC one (click the archives link at the bottom) That's much better in my opinion.

and in Australia Women`s Weekly magazine is a monthly

Bush`s stuff about freedom would be more impressive if he showed any signs of giving a rat`s arse about it in places like China (where the population don`t, apparently, need freedom anytime soon) or Venezuala where an Bush`s government cheered on a coup against an elected government......

There are five daily pulses-I was invited to write one of them...by the head of the site...my ego swelled liked a balloon open hearing that.

I agree with you Floyd-I hate this left-liberal imperialism but the freedom/pan-American argument for War in Iraq is the most appealing and coherent argument for regime change. In short whether its true or not, it made sense politically.

Yes, and I don't want to start all this again, but it wasn't the motivation for the people involved.  I mean, John Negroponte, the man who helped run the death squads across Latin America, is the USA's 'man in Iraq'.

Whether it's true or not is of vital importance.  I might be willing to see bad things happen, indeed, I must unless I'm going to have a politics of total inaction, but I cannot have a politics of bad things happen, committed by bad people with nasty intent, but it's all right as, if we ignore all of that then we can argue it's a good thing.

That sort of politics makes Saddam a good guy too. What, the best educated population in the Middle East.  The most secular.  The best health care system.  The most rights for women.  Well, in that case we can overlook his bad stuff.

And we did overlook his bad stuff.  But not for those reasons.  We overlooked his bad stuff because he was gassing the Iranians.

I won't be happy until the malooks in the White House then (and they're pretty much tha same as now) are in prison too.  If realpolitik is an excuse, then it works for Saddam too.
