Title: Comic horror(-ish) comic
Post by: Bad Andy on 27 September, 2004, 05:23:12 AM
Not too sure if many of you will find this of interest, but I'm giving it a go anyway.

An old colleague of mine has been writing a webcomic now for six or seven years. He's got so good at it - he is now earning a living from it. Fair play to him.

However it seems that, despite being written in Oldham, the vast majority of the readership is American. In an effort to drum up some UK readers - this is a plug.

Notionally a daily horror comedy strip, computer drawn, it also has element of sci-fi (especially robots) as the current time travelling storyline attests to. But usually its about zombies. Please do take the time to check it out.

Cool - I used to read Bobbins, nice to see he's doing something else.

The Bobbins archive is still around (i think) at www.bobbins.org

it's actually fascinating to see John's drawing style evolve over a five year period

I did a stint on the Oldham Advertiser - I had to go an interview that horse-toothed lad from Emmerdale one minute, a page three girl the next, and then spent half an hour telling the editor why I wasn't willing to walk into one of the town's worst estates to interview a well-known local hoodlum ... ah, the memories ...

Bah! You're a fine one to talk ... "Och, noa. He's naught in this mourning," says one Celt-voiced hack. "He's oot on his lunch," says another, ten minutes later. And who the hell voiced that switchboard message?! Frankenstein?!?!

Tsk. Never at your desk when you're needed ;oP

"Never at your desk when you're needed"

+++ Warning! Patronising mode engaged! Danger of tall person exploding! +++

This, my young padawan, is the secret of getting the front page.
Concentrate your efforts on the stories worth writing.

The rest of the time, avoid all work!

That's how I've written a front page story for three out of the last four papers...

(Oh, and yes: that's a monstrous recorded message!)
