Title: Devlin Waugh GN!
Post by: Pete Wells on 07 November, 2004, 10:29:01 PM
Were the f**k can I but the new Devlin GN online. I was SO happy when I found out we were getting a shitload of 2000ad graphic novels but am getting increasingly pissed off by their lack of availability!

Rant over! Can anyone help?

Ta,

Pete.
Title: eBay- Punisher Collection
Post by: Banners on 07 November, 2004, 10:41:09 PM
Apologies if this is considered 'Spam' but I'm selling my Punisher collection on eBay and thought some of you might be interested. It's quite a big list, and everything starts at 1p...!

There are also a few 2000AD creators in there including Wagner, Grant, Pat Mills, Cam Kennedy and Simon Bisley.

Cheers,

M@

I think the Dev Waugh TPB has been delayed by a printing problem, but it should be out soon.

As for availability, you could try Amazon Marketplace sellers, but otherwise... *shrugs*

I don't know if the situation is any better in bricks & mortar stores, or in the US, but availability of all of the Rebellion TPBs - their own line and the DC/Rebellion line - has been awful.

Yeah, least of all their own marketing of them on this site (through no fault of Wake!)
You'd think they'd want to advertise them in theor online store asap, wouldn't you?

Devlin Waugh: Swimming in Blood was released in the US on 10/27, and Red Razors on 11/3.  Those are both delays, but they're both out.  I've seen them both - and I'm picking my copies up this weekend!

Judge Dredd: Judgement Day is scheduled to be out this Wednesday, the 10th.

They weren't in Comics Showcase or Forbidden Planet in London on Sunday afternoon.

I'll see if they're about maybe Wednesday of Friday (but I don't hold out much hope).

Both Devlin Waugh and Red Razors *erk* sre out now - Waugh book is nice stuff - I like the making of bit - fun to see all Sean Phillips "short cuts" explained away by John Smith not actually wanting those things in the frame - Pah, I bet he was weeping when he saw the finished product - mood setting my arse - show me the shrubbery! :)

I picked up a copy from Worlds Apart in Liverpool today.
They've got Dredd/Batman, SinDex & Red Razors in, too.
They do mail order. Call 'em on 0151 707 0839.
You can tell 'em I sent you if you like, but it won't score you any favours...

Bah! I've given up hope of ever finding these bastard books (and I live in the blinkin' capital city of this sodding country!)!

[I just hope this defeatist talk is enough to convince the Gods of Fate that I've given up, and so I can sneakily buy the books whilst they're not looking]

Byron:

Amazingly, I managed to find both Devlin Waugh and Red Razors. Have a look for an Amazon Marketplace Seller called "The Book Depository". The prices are a little higher than typical Amazon rates (and possibly a bit higher than the cover price) but it's the only place I've found them so far.

To anyone from the Rebellion graphic novel department reading this - please, please could you do whatever you can to sort this? I'm interested in most of the Rebellion books coming down the line over the next 6 months, but I'm getting increasingly frustrated by not being able to purchase them when they become available, and then having to spend hours searching for somewhere I can actually buy a copy. For some of the books I'm less interested in, this hassle is enough to put me off trying to find them.

..And if a fairly dedicated 2K fan is having trouble getting them, what about the average comic- or book-buyer?

Noisy, although your details are useful I think the point is that most people would like to be able to walk into any major book store in their home town and be able to buy any of the new books (to be fair I haven't been to my Forbidden Planet here in Cambridge yet to look). Actually get them from the website as well which is the first place you'd expect to find it.
I'm also wondering what happened to the overhaul and the expansion of the 2000adshop.
I've got some back pay coming in a few months and would like to have things to buy ;)

I've killfiled Worlds Apart actually due to the staff being a bunch of tossers.

Noisy -

Sorry, not killfiling you or ignoring you - honest! I just wanted to post a suggestion for an online option for anyone who was interested.

Logan -

Cheers for that. Contacting Dom direct is probably more constructive than moaning about it here, but sometimes... ;-)

Sorry Noisybast, I've never killfiled anyone, partly because I would feel too guilty, and partly because I've not got a clue as to how to do such things.

Didn't read your message before as i was a t work, and I just tend to quickly skim-read threads when I'm busy.

Anyway, good news is that I managed to pick up both Swimming in Blood and Red Razors today, as well as Dave Gibbons' The Originals, which I'm off to read right now!

Sorry Noisybast. You were a tosser, you aren't anymore. Anyway it was some stupid woman that worked there that really pissed me off.

It wasn't the one with the long black hair. Got into an arguement with the woman, later tried to apologise and she just threw it back into my face. Won't accept my apology? Don't accept my money then.

I'm not sure that picking up Red Razors can ever be classed as good news, Byron! :)

Let me know what you think of The originals though - there's been no talk of it here, but I like the idea of it - just waiting to be convinced....

Post by: Byron Virgo on 13 November, 2004, 04:52:42 PM
Hey, I quite like Red Razors! That and Cannon Fodder were the only decent things Millar wrote for the comic, apart from a few five page one-offs.

By the way, Watcher, I can heartily reccomend The Originals: it's all monochrome, very much like a weirdly futurist alternate Quadrophenia, and what's more it's a lovely hardback, and an unusual more European (and British) size book. Plus it's Dave Gibbons: what more do you want?

Just some woman in dark clothes brown hair. I was a good 5 or 6 feet away, in a hurry for a train, browsing other books. I called over a question and she went off on one about not wanting to be towered over. I assume she's had some problems in her past but I don't give a shit. I politely asked a question. You don't lose it with a customer over something like that.

Got Devlin from Comics Showcase on Thursday - nicely done.

Didn't get Razors - I really liked the first story, but the second story sucked so much that it gives the collection a -ve score IMO...

I picked up Devlin Waugh and Red Razors this weekend.  I was a little disappointed in the last of supplements and background stuff in Red Razors, but if it kept the cost down to keep it at exactly 144 pages for $13, I suppose it was worth it.

The Devlin Waugh book is just superb.  I hadn't read A Mouthful of Dust before (US distribution problems for the Meg at that time), and the whole package just feels like a quality product.

I passed on Judgement Day, as I already have the Hamlyn edition, don't like the new cover, and didn't feel the addition of "The Kinda Dead Man" was enough to sell me on buying it again.  But my pal Don did buy it Friday evening when we met to play Heroclix.

Also, Diamond shipped me two copies of prog 1410 and no copies of 1409.  Bastards.

Kinda Dead Man's in it? Nice.
I've got all bar one page of that artwork.
Makes it worthwhile buying collections of stuff you've already got when theres something else added in.

Thanks for keeping this going guys. The lack of availability of these books really is fucking annoying though isn't it?

A big thanks to Noisybast, I'll be ringing World's Apart tomorrow but it pisses me off to have to do so. I get a buzz ordering online when I should be doing work. Mutter... grumble...

Please sort things out soon Dom and Rebellion!

Pete.

Pete - well, for me it's almost a necessity to order online. The nearest comics store is in Glasgow, around 3-4 hours from where I live. The nearest book store is Borders, but their selection of graphic novels is fairly tame, and Rebellion TPBs rarely appear (not to mention that they fucking gouge you on TPB prices...)

Hey Frank,

I've just found Red Razors (bleugh!) on play.com for ?9.99 including delivery and on Amazon used and new for ?6.42 plus postage (sent from the USA).

No sign of Devlin on Play.com but it is on Amazon used and new for a whopping ?13.49!

Depressing but I hope it helps.

Pete

A box of graphic novels arrived for me today, along with stock codes a couple of days ago. Having downloaded some covers from Comic Book Resources, I've now added Devlin Waugh, Red Razors, Judgement Day, Nikolai Dante, the Batman Dredd Files and Sinister Dexter to the site.

Hopefully the site won't get quite so far behind in future.

Cheers,

Wake

Why is devlin missing a finger on that cover? And why does he look like he's been on steroids? Did he drink the blood of a user?

Not your fault Wake.

I'm seeing how many I'll get given for Christmas anyway. Just as well my dad knows how to order stuff online from Play and Amazon as he wouldn't be able to find them in Borders et al.

As an aside, does anyone know which section in Borders these new ones are supposed to be filed in?
