Help!
For some bizarre reason, my browser (Mozilla Firefox) has decided to go completely screwy!!
I was surfing away but then the window closed down and it said summat about which username i wanted to use, but i couldn't use 'default' because that was already in use, so i created another one and now all my favourites have disappeared (that's quite bad - there was some really important stuff I needed there!) and I can't get them back!! There doesn't seem to be any way to restore the old settings on my browser!
Can anyone lend a hand?!?!?
Not sure if this will work, but my bookmarks are stored here.Firts go to Tools-folder option. Then View and click the box Show hidden files. The go to My Computer/Documents and settings/then the folder that has the name you picked when you installed windows(COuld be default but will be the folder that is the biggest)/Application data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/default.
If you now have two profiles there will be two folders here. Just look inside the one for the html page called bookmarks. You should be able to copy and paste into your new profile.

This thing seems to happen when firefox/mozilla/netscape shutdown unexpectedly. Basically it buggers something up so they think you're still logged in. The easiest way to fix it is just to reboot and next time you run it it will revert to "default" profile and give you back all your bookmarks etc.
Now all you Micro$oft junkies take note! Firefox beats IE hands down, plus it's "free" software. I highly recomend it to one and all (plus it does tabbed browsing)
Firefox 1.0 is out today. Might that cure it?

What a coincidence...old one falls over...new one arrives to save the day...
Thank you muchly for the advice. I've found my old bookmarks but now have to spend ages transferring them to the new username. The box about usernames never appeared again, so I can't switch back and nor can I find settings files to change them. However, have uploaded the new version, which actually seems to run more smoothly than the old.
One problem though - when I go to save a file, the save box comes up but lists the existing files (which I have displayed as thumbnails) in backwards order every time (i.e. z to a, rather than a to z) which means I have to re-sort them so the folders actually appear at the top. It's very annoying and no matter how many times I do the whole arrange/names/auto arrange it won't stick!
