Title: OT: Publishing statistics
Post by: Dudley on 30 November, 2004, 09:10:47 PM
Does anyone know how on earth you get hold of book sales figures?  I've got 6 books that I'm desperately trying to get comparable sales figures for, and I can't find any kind of central database.  I'm tearing my hair out here, my supervisor can't help, publishers don't appear to want to help... and in my desperation, I turn to the extremely knowledgeable and good-looking members of this board, who have resolved so many odd queries in the past...

Anyone?

I think The Sunday Times shows the numbers sold in their bestseller list.

Yeah, they do... unfortunately, that only covers the top 20 or so books selling in any one week.  I know that they're getting their figures from AC Nielson, but unfortunately I have to pay out a lot of cash to get access to that...

The Grauniad bestseller list is supplied by Nielsen BookScan.
