In light of the hints that we'll be seeing a collection of Ace Trucking later this year (and with a spare few hours to mess about...) I've mocked up a cover & a story wishlist for a first volume. Hope it's entertaining :-)
Ace Trucking Co. Vol 1: Last Lug to Abbo DabboAce Trucking Co.
Hell's Pocket
Lugjack
The Great Mush Rush
The Ughbug Bloos
Last Lug to Abbo Dabbo
Joobaloo
Too Many Bams
(225pp)
...and two follow-up volumes could be:
Ace Trucking Co. Vol 2: The Croakside Trip
The Kloistar Run
Stoop Coop Soup
On the Dangle
Strike!
The Croakside Trip
(215pp)
...and finally:
Ace Trucking Co. Vol 3: The Doppelgarp
The Doppelgarp
The Garpetbaggers
(181pp)
Pity they ended the series on such a bum note, after all the other series were so great.
Still, that's really cool Frank, nice one.
It'd be good if they collected the text story and the two painted strips from the annuals - Belardinelli's painted stuff is something to behold.

I'll have a go at this image thing.
What's the betting that the rather gorgeous Boo Cook star scan from Prog 2005 ends up as a collection cover? Though the mock up is more attractive than some covers that have been used, in my opinion.
Oh, and can I make it clear that it's the star scan that is rather gorgeous not Boo Cook. Thankyou.
And can I make it clear to Boo that I'm not saying he;s unnatractive, I just don't think he's rather gorgeous. He's okay but he's no Jock or Ian Gibson.
And can I make it clear that I don't actually fancy Jock or Ian Gibson, just think they're more gorgeous than Boo.
In fact, can I make it clear that I don't fancy any men or any droid.
Except maybe Roxilla.
Though it's been over a decade since she was in the Prog so she's probably past her best.
Can I make it cleat that I'm not saying older women can't be attractive.
Can I stop now?
They'll let anyone write for Comics International now, won't they?
Sold.
In that first one you really need Bamfeezled from the sci-fi special included to make sense of the gang's trepidation at the start of Too Many Bams, along with the dictionary and maybe the development feature from the annual.
Anyhoo, carrying on a great tradition of covers not by the series' artist or that have anything to do with the story this'll probably be the front...
I hope not.
...10 minutes with a scanner & I've got something just for DXB:
Ace trucking.
i have not read that strip in years. will it hold up today or will it be very dated?
robo hunter is classic and could be in the comic next prog for the first time and be excellent.
but ace, while i have very good memories i will wonder how it reads now.
I have no nostalgia for the strip but when I read the 'Best of's it worked for me. It's got fun strips. It's got great visuals. That's pretty much all I want from a comic. Cheers Frank. Thought it'd be good but that original cover is sooooo much greatester.
Boo's one is nice.
I think for me it'd have to be most of the stories in one large GN rather than spread over 2-3.
I know, Opaque - it'd be great to have a single Ace Trucking volume.
Unfortunately, the strip ran to around 600-700 pages - not including annual stories, features etc. The largest Rebellion trade so far has been around 250 pages, and I doubt you could push much larger than that in that particular format. Even assuming a 300 page trade, you'd still be cutting over half of the stories!
IMO, if it's a choice between complete Ace Trucking over several books or selected stories in one, I'd go for the former every time. There's just too much good stuff!
Well maybe I'd accept 2 volumes :)
If you had a volume or 2 of normal stories then a volume with only the annual stuff and extra bits and bobs that would be interesting.
Think of it as the last disc in a dvd boxset with all the extras on it.
One problem with things being released in several volumes is that it can take ages for everything to come out.
Heh. Good point about the length of time involved in reprinting complete strips, though. The good news is that Rebellion/DC seem to be pursuing a quick turnaround on this - the third Sinister Dexter collection is due out in a couple of months, as are the second collections of Devlin Waugh, Dante, Rogue Trooper and Robo Hunter. I'd hope that with something like a two or three volume set, you'd see the lot within 6-12 months.
Fingers crossed!
He is gorgeous, or at least that cap is
Doppelgarp my favourite, Ace wiv his peak nikked.hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahha ahahaa
