Title: Any other publishers for short stories out there?
Post by: Tiplodocus on 14 May, 2002, 05:28:59 AM
I was wondering if anyone new of an alternate publisher for short stories (future shock style) lurking out there.

They don't have to be British - though I do recall someone making a posting about someone called Black Dog or something (I can't find the exact post because there has been so much chaff flying arounf recently) - I do recall someone saying something along the lines that "Issue 4 had nearly 50% reprint" - I'm hoping that means they'll consider any old rubbish...er... my magnum opus.

Anybody help?

I have some details of SF mags that take short stories somewhere, but it's all non comic stuff.  I could dig it out if you are interested.  I didn't submit to any of them in the end because half of them weren't really publishing science fiction, just characters philosiphising about their lives with a shoddy sf backdrop tacked on.

Oh and I couldn't be arsed.

If it's comics then I don't know.  There's a lot of people out there, who want to do stuff and tell stories but I think you'd be better of buying a lottery ticket than trying to get into 2000AD (I do both, wot an idiot) but I guess you know that :)  It's a bit of a shame really, that there isn't more out there.

Of course when I win the lottery...

If you're doing horror/darker stuff, try Opi8.com - there's also NextComics.com, and they both run online strips.
